Trio: noun

a group or set of three

Picture of my messy desk! That must mean it WOYWW! Time for our weekly visit between friends, you know the type of friends that you don't have to clean house for? The ones that really understand you and what your about...yeah, WOYWW friends! The best kind!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Altered Book Lesson 5: Design Principals ( part 1 )

Jellyfish and peanut butter
 mermaid sense of humor

( I love that Elizabeth also showed a way to tie unity and emphasis together on her page! )
I also combined unity, emphasis along with harmony. With unity I used both color and shape to work together to establish a cohesive whole. I repeated the green color throughout along with the shapes of the jellyfish.
The emphasis is placed on the brown peanut butter jar, by making the color brown it draws the eye to it making it a focal point.
And I included harmony along with this page as it has a theme. Jellyfish and peanut butter....get it? lol I'm using related elements, hopefully bringing the composition together . To quote Elizabeth, I think "it plays well together."
And just FYI, the green sparkly material was what my Easter flowers came wrapped in!!
Cricut cartridge - Art Nouveau ( jellyfish )
Don Juan cartridge - letters
peanut butter jar and hook - made by me
stickles, inks and H20's
gesso used as glue for material, ( I just love this stuff! lol )
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for my photography gals! My instructor told us that if we didn't have a polarizing lens ( and I don't ) that we could use our sunglasses. So you take a picture through your sunglass lens when you have too much glare, like I did off the water.
So :
without sunglasses
 with sunglasses!
 without sunglasses
 with sunglasses!
pretty cool little trick, huh?

If your interested in seeing my latest pictures from the Biltmore estate, then go to this post, it's their Festival of Flowers time! I wish you could smell the lilacs...oh my!

OK, I'm laughing so hard I can barely sit right now. YEP, I get the jellyfish and peanut butter humor. And your use of color really puts this spread over the top. Color is so, so powerful. It can definitely be used to make a statement or for effect. I love what you made, and look forward to seeing more soon. Have a super WOYWW from # 9, but you know, since you've already visited!

Me again. That's a pretty clever trick to use sunglasses for a polarizing lens. Wish I had sunglasses, but my regular glasses turn dark, so I've never owned a pair.

Lovely messy desk, Sandee, and fun pages! As for the photos, that's an amazing result from such a simple tip! Worth remembering.

As far as my blog background is concerned, I am aware that the purple colour isn't brilliant, but as I pointed out, it's a work in progress and hopefully it will all be sorted in a day or two. Please bear with me!!

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Sandee, thanks for visiting me over Easter - I hope you had a lovely time too x

Your AB is looking FAB! I'm so far behind on mine, I have done a little more - like making the tags, but just haven't blogged them yet. The next part sounds interesting from your post, you've inspired me to push on with it!

Great photography tips too - tfs xx

Great picture of your desk. Looks there is a lot going on. This altered book pages are so lovely. The colours combined perfect. And about your pics of the water... I'm using a polarizing lens for years and it give your photo's much more deep colours. Especially when the sun is shining - try them, for example, on leaves of a plant or tree and see the difference :-). Thanks for sharing and have a crafty week. xFranka #11

Thanks for sharing that great tip about the sunglasses, such a difference. I wonder if it would work with my photo-chromic UV filter glasses. A little test to be done there. I use my camcorder for all my stills as well as they are so good. I will let you know what happens. Thanks for your visit today. I don't think there are many horse drawn boats still in general use on the waterways, just a few for tourists. Have a good week. xx Maggie #2

LOLOL - that mermaid sure has a wicked sense of humour!! As do you - I think we'd get on very well in 'real life' you know. It's interesting that you can tell from blogs who you'd like to get to know and who you're happy to keep on blog level :)

Okay, now you have me seeing that ridiculous Julian Smith jellyfish video . . . it's on youtube, so ridiculous, but I bought some jellyfish just to mess with my silly kids after they showed it to me!

Peanut butter and jellyfish! I love it! My new wallet is a PB&J sandwich.... uh, that makes no sense. It is fabric, two pieces of bread stitched together on a hinge. Each piece of bread zips open. On the inside one side is printed PB and the other side printed jelly. A little magnet holds it closed. When you pull it out of your purse, you get looks cuz it looks like a slightly squished sandwich. Anyway... no harmony there, but there is HUMOR and that has to count for something. LOVE the jellyfish. Well, really love the whole page. The sunglasses trick is neat but I suspect prescription sunglasses would just make a mess of things!!!!! Pee no Bee and Jay

Hee hee. Jellyfish and peanut butter! I had that for dinner one night last weekend (benefits of being single)! Your page is perfect!!

And thanks for sharing that tip about the sunglasses. Interesting!

Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog. I knitted the baby blanket with small needles so that's why the stitches are tiny. Use a bulkier yarn with larger needles and the pattern will be bigger. Maybe I'll do a little comparison knitting in a future post.

I'm getting back in the groove this week. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts.

Hugs,
Kay

Hi sandee,
Thanks for your comments on my tags. You are such a tease saying I'm going to get a mention especially due to the time difference as I don't really know when your tomorrow is - LOL.
Your desk sure is messy but the Home, sweet, home banner is lovely. As for your AB pages they are adorable. Love the soft green and sparkly backing paper from your flowers. I have heard those "over the pond" eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I think your jelly is jam to us. Obviously too much thought required to make me laugh though! Still a lovely page.
