I sooooooooooo love stitching on my projects!
Here is the one I completed for the challenge:
The easiest and best way to add a special touch to your card is a simple border. Just straight line stitching.
Reminisce - pattern paper
Studio G - house stamp ( stamped and paper pieced back together )
examples of other hand stitching:
You can sew shapes, here is a stitched rainbow shape and then I used chalks to help highlight the colors :)
Or, if your up to some French Knots, they add awesome texture!
or, if you are the more adventurous type you can do something like this:
Here I stitched the bristles to the brush, the bristles that are "dipped in green paint" are fibers glued on. This is one I would consider a little bit of mixed media.
Now for anyone that has never done hand stitching on a card, here are a few basic rules.
These are the tools to my trade :) Nothing fancy or high tech here. You will note an old piece of Styrofoam that I use as a base to push my fancy hole piercer through. And yes, my hole piercer is nothing more than a needle jammed into a pencil eraser. I do love my Fiber Friend and it helps to make all my spacing perfect, although I don't always use it.
Punch your holes BEFORE sewing, otherwise your paper can bend or tear.
Do not knot the thread on the back as it can still slip through the hole, but tape your beginning and end piece of thread down.
Do not stitch directly onto your base card. Always sew onto a separate piece of paper that you will adhere to the base card stock. That way the stitches on the back will not be visible.
Sew simple, yes?
