Another altered cardboard tube box. :)
I am discovering that the round shape appeals more to my customers than a square box shape. I now have all friends on alert for keeping strong cardboard tubes for me!

I hope that you can see that the third pattern paper was cut into a scalloped border, and since I believe in doing the things the hard way, I added the pearls and stickles to it after it was adhered to the the round box. Yes, I firmly believe in challenging myself to the fullest! lol

Cricut - Giant Flowers cartridge
Sassafrass Lass - pattern paper
Ranger - stickles, liquid pearls
American Crafts - ribbon

I hope you go over to Paper Playtime and join us in our Use 3 Pattern Papers challenge!

I really had no idea how this image just leaps off the page, it must have something to do with all the triangles, maybe like an optical illusion? But I just love how happy this little pup looks with the balloon hanging onto his tail, he looks like he is very excited to be celebrating a child's birthday!
I added a little glossy accents to his tongue for shine and a small dollop of LSD under the tip of his tail to hold it up for some dimension! That's the best part of LSD, how you add the tinniest bit under the smallest pieces and it never shows! I really do love this stuff!

Frosted Designs Monday Inspiration - Embossing

Hi everyone, it's time for some Monday inspiration for the new Frosted Designs challenge!

Our sponsor for this challenge is
  Molossi
You can see what they have in store here,
They will be offering a 30.00 chipboard and bling pack to one lucky winner!!

I think wet embossing was one of my first techniques that I tried when I was first learning to scrapbook that both thrilled me and scared me, lol I can still remember my first failures at it, but unlike some things I use to do ages ago, ( like decorative scissors...ahem..) this is one that I still love to do. I still have my original heat gun too!

I used 2 different styles of embossing, the first one is dry embossing where I ran a piece of my gelli print paper through my big shot with a leaf texture plate and then cut the leaves out by hand. The second type of embossing was wet, I stamped the sentiment and drew my faux stitching lines with an embossing pen and then heat set it with powder.

PanPastel Challenge Blog - #21 Bling it
All That Stickles - Turquoise Linky Party
So, here I was playing with my gelli plate intending to make a mermaid print and I did too, but what I made here, was created from the stencils I was using to mask with. ( In other words instead of using the pieces that I had cut from the Cricut as a mask, the pieces themselves became part of the art. Each layer was cut from the Cricut, laid onto the Gelli plate and then lifted off after painting. Then each piece was layered on top of each other to make the wall hanging. Each piece was cut out of a trasparency sheet. )
This is my unintentional mermaid. :)
I say unintentional because I didn't plan on using the Cricut cuts as part of the design, I thought I would be throwing these cuts away.
For each transparency layer there is a coat of gel medium over it so I am assured that the paint won't flake off the plastic transparency. So that's a whole lot of layering, coating with medium and then adding another layer.
I just LOVE how bright and vibrant the colors came out and since I was using transparencies, any color below shows through the top layer. Each time I peeled up the mask piece I squealed! seriously There are numerous layers here and each one is delicious!
The color themselves are not neon, but laid against this black background and they just zoom off!
I used the turquoise stickles to outline the turquoise seaweed and left the others alone, I did add stickles to the starfishes.
My mermaid is outlined and a few drop of liquid pearls are added to her, and that's all the garnishment that she needed.
Rangers- stickles, turquoise, yellow, glam pink
Pebeo - outliner
Higgins - white ink ( for eyes )
American Crafts - Mary marker ( lips )
Plaid - acrylic paints
Gelli Plate
Cricut Craft Room - Pirates and Mermaids ( digital cart )

Hi everyone, here is your Monday inspiration over at Frosted Designs where our new challenge is to use punches. What do you mean it's not Monday? sshhhh....don't tell on me, I am posting this a day early, you really weren't suppose to notice!  I do hope you go over and see what the other lovely ladies on my DT have come up with, the creativity astounds me sometimes!

OK, so coloring on the canvas was a wee bit of a learning curve. When it's wet my gelatos ran...so had to wait for it to dry and then went back in with my pens to try and straighten out the coloring a bit. They color much better with markers. I added some glitter to the wings.
I admit I don't have many punches. I never invested in them especially after getting my Cricut machine, but I have a waterfall punch and used it here on the bottom of my card.

using this sketch

Amalgamating several challenges and elements to create this card:

I stamped the sand piper and piling on Kraft paper, shaded it and cut it out. I also cut into the waves so that the piling is "sunk" into the top layer.
I added a small fish stamp on top of the brad ( which I painted white ) and then added a little bit of glossy accents on the fish. I swear if I had known there was an air bubble in it, I would have tried to move it over his eye, wouldn't that have looked cool?

Sand Piper, pier stamp, fish, sentiment - Paper Smooches Surf and Turf
red striped paper, Kraft hexegon paper - Little Yellow Bicycle
large brad - American Crafts
Faber Castell - PITT pens
Ranger - Glossy Accents, stickles
Really Reasonable Ribbon - twine
Cricut - Heart Bubble layout ( free cut thisweek )

Have you missed me? I certainly have missed you!! I have been sooooooooo very busy since joining 3 DT's and business is picking up again at the Art MoB now that winter is over. On my desk today is a mini album that I tried to sell last fall, but maybe it will get a better reception earlier in the summer. Plus, revamping it it with some prettier ribbon might help...crossing fingers!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for more fun stuff I entered the sketch challenge for NSB day:

And a close up of my lay out:

Little Yellow Bicycle:
cork background - Making the Grade
dark brown woodgrain paper - Acorn Hollow
light brown striped paper, chipboard shapes, sentiment words, Fresh Verse - Fern & Forest Boy
canvas butterfly sticker, cork sticker letters - Naturals ( colored with distress stain )
Clear cut - Saturdays

I love how 5 different paper groups merged so well together, mixing them up is the best way to get the most use out of your stash!

I love that the canvas stickers can be colored in but since I needed both orange and white to balance out the lay out, I only added a tiny bit of color.

Here, I did darken the cork letters with distress stain so they would show up better against the light colored backgrounds.

I mixed in some chipboard banner pieces that I wrote on with a permanent marker along with the Fresh Verse so I could make a sentiment.

other:
Ranger - Vintage Photo distress stain
American Crafts - Slick Writer
Faber Castell - PITT pens
Really Reasonable Ribbon - twine

Try it on Tuesday-animals

My heart goes out to all the families in Oklahoma, please keep them in your thoughts and say a prayer for them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'On the Wild Side' , to feature animals or birds.

The background to this piece began with Imagines Goosebumps spray and then followed with an assortment of Ranger sprays. The compass and quote were cut from a magazine and outlined with  a Faber Castell PITT pen. The entire piece was outlined with Higgins Super White ink and is hung with Really Reasonable Ribbon's hemp cording.
The pup was hand drawn on a magazine image and cut out, once adhered to the board, he was outlined with my Pebeo liner. His tongue and shadowing was created with Faber Castell gelatos and his eye was made with American Crafts Marvy Marker.

The tile words and letters were fitted on a straight pin with a small cork bead at the end and then glued down with Helmar's 450.

So, are YOU living like someone left the gate open?

It's time for the Monday Inspiration girls over at Frosted Designs!
We would like to see your cards, layouts and off the page projects using only 3 colors.... black, white, and one other color of your choice!

I did another lay out!! Don't faint....lol
After checking, I see that my last one was made back in November so I had better get caught up!

Now what do you do when you don't really have anything to journal about? I used a poem from e.e.cummings and wrote fun facts about tulips around the edge of the LO. .
I also like that I got to use a small piece of ephemera, the top of the Biltmore ticket stub is used as my title. And my subliminal sub title which is God - everything - yes, because God is everything!

 entering this in:

Cut out the banner from the Cricut and adhered it to some twine.

Used a French knot to secure the large overlay to the base. .

Sprayed some mister on the overlay and let dry before placing the bling down. Because I sprayed onto a slick surface you really have to be careful and make sure it's completely dry. You can see where I added a little extra glue to the bling because it re-activated the spray, although in my book, that wasn't such a bad thing.

And attached the small journaling circle that I cut out with a stick pin which I outlined with a pen so it pop. I had to paint my date on top of the journaling sticker so that it would show up.

Cricut - Country Life cartridge
Prima - bling
Hambly - overlays
Colorbok - black felt butterfly
Maya Road - hat pin butterfly
Faber Castell - PITT pen
American Crafts - Slick Writers
Higgins - waterproof ink
DCWV - white paper

I hope you play along with us, I am looking forward to seeing what you create!
