This is my first time entering a challenge for My Sweet Earth, a blog run by Susan K. Weckesser.
using this for your inspiration:

The sweet ripe taste of ...apples.
Up here in the mountains we are known for our crisp variety of apples so I was inspired to paint some apples...well, one apple anyway. We will be having an apple festival the last week in August so I wanted to have something apple related for sale in the Art MoB.

I also wanted an apple related verse by Robert Schuller so I chose:
"Anyone can count the seeds in the apple but only God can count the number of apples in a seed."

My background is a combination of paints and stains, with the embossed lettering for added texture. Then the apple branch was painted on with acrylics and stains with an outlining of pearl paint.

Ranger - distress stains, barn door, vintage photo, peeled paint, brushed pewter
Viva Décor - pearl pen, dark brown
Plaid - acrylic paint, nutmeg brown
Apple Barrel - acrylic paint, Kelly green, khaki, yellow flame, white
Delta Creamcoat - bright red
Crafters Workshop - stencil, TCW261

side note:
One of my little art canvas was used for advertisement in the Laurel Magazine for the Art MoB! :)
 You can see it here.
If you do go to the link to see it, mind giving me a like?
Thank you!~

Simon Says - Monochromatic
Aud Sentiments - #87 Anything but a birthday card
Inkspirational - #33

what? 2 cards in the same week that are monochromatic? What is becoming of me?

I've really been trying ( honest, I have ) to use up my stash items, you know those things we hold onto for years and for whatever reason they don't get used but there they are, secretly mocking you...oh wait, I might be the only one who has stash that mocks them, lol Anyhoo....I have had these animal sticker letters since 2006 ( hangs head down in shame ) and when I saw the Inkspirational challenge, I just knew I could use them, with the letters of the inspiration piece inspiring me.

All That Stickles - Turquoise Linky Party
So, here I was playing with my gelli plate intending to make a mermaid print and I did too, but what I made here, was created from the stencils I was using to mask with. ( In other words instead of using the pieces that I had cut from the Cricut as a mask, the pieces themselves became part of the art. Each layer was cut from the Cricut, laid onto the Gelli plate and then lifted off after painting. Then each piece was layered on top of each other to make the wall hanging. Each piece was cut out of a trasparency sheet. )
This is my unintentional mermaid. :)
I say unintentional because I didn't plan on using the Cricut cuts as part of the design, I thought I would be throwing these cuts away.
For each transparency layer there is a coat of gel medium over it so I am assured that the paint won't flake off the plastic transparency. So that's a whole lot of layering, coating with medium and then adding another layer.
I just LOVE how bright and vibrant the colors came out and since I was using transparencies, any color below shows through the top layer. Each time I peeled up the mask piece I squealed! seriously There are numerous layers here and each one is delicious!
The color themselves are not neon, but laid against this black background and they just zoom off!
I used the turquoise stickles to outline the turquoise seaweed and left the others alone, I did add stickles to the starfishes.
My mermaid is outlined and a few drop of liquid pearls are added to her, and that's all the garnishment that she needed.
Rangers- stickles, turquoise, yellow, glam pink

Higgins - white ink ( for eyes )
American Crafts - Mary marker ( lips )
Plaid - acrylic paints

Hi everyone, here is your Monday inspiration over at Frosted Designs where our new challenge is to use punches. What do you mean it's not Monday? sshhhh....don't tell on me, I am posting this a day early, you really weren't suppose to notice!  I do hope you go over and see what the other lovely ladies on my DT have come up with, the creativity astounds me sometimes!

OK, so coloring on the canvas was a wee bit of a learning curve. When it's wet my gelatos ran...so had to wait for it to dry and then went back in with my pens to try and straighten out the coloring a bit. They color much better with markers. I added some glitter to the wings.
I admit I don't have many punches. I never invested in them especially after getting my Cricut machine, but I have a waterfall punch and used it here on the bottom of my card.

Anything But a Card - Tie it Up! ( I used chains, yarn )

"Challenge 11 asks you to incorporate things that can be tied: twine, ribbon, thread, wire, rope, cording, trim, chain, seam binding, etc! You don't have to really tie it, but you get the idea! "

OK, so my mind went straight to 50 Shades of Grey, ( what's new, right? ) lol But, thankfully my creativity went Bollywood instead! I had decided to work on another mermaid wall hanging ( since they seem to sell well at the Art MoB ), and I already had the background "paper", that came from the bottom of my spray box,( as you know, if you have been following my blog; I have created several projects in the last week from this one sheet of wax paper. ) So anyway, that was my starting point. And since I had been playing with an old craft hobby of mine, Gallery Glass,  I wanted to make a mermaid using it.

And she developed and preened, she dazzled, as only mermaids can.

I truly love how the Gallery Glass mixes together!!

I truly believe when I make them that they create their own personalities, and I wonder how much control do I really have?
