blue moon: noun

This Friday's full moon is known as a "blue moon," the second full moon in the calendar month. This naming is based on a mistake more than 65 years old. The color the moon appears to us is controlled not by calendar but by the Earth's atmosphere. The only way it will appear blue in color is if atmospheric conditions scatter the moonlight just right.

Hi Sandee, love that Frank Sinatra song but more impressed that you stayed up to 4 am - even more impressed that the moon was so clear but I guess it would be up in those hills......Crafty hugs, Anne x

...great piccy of the moon Sandee...I heard on our local radio that this blue moon only happens every 2 years I don't know the story behind this and alas it was cloudy here last night but it was my birthday yesterday (31st) and for some reason it felt more special...hope your having a super weekend...Mel :)

when I went out with the dog around midnight ALL of the sky was deep blue and the stars seemed hidden. The moon was bright and clear! Beautiful! No clouds like yours though!

Hi Sandee,

O.k. I took my photos at 10:00 pm. and went to bed and finished reading a book...... Your photo looks wonderful with the clouds!

I posted a "project pinterest" post today -- I think you are going to like it!

Oh my gosh. This is one special and jaw dropping gorgeous photo. I'm IN LOVE. I must find out what camera you use because I want one!

I forgot to mention. I went to that site and was in SHOCK that these fire starters would cost $10.00. For me, it would be some sage, rosemary, or basil from my garden, twine from my craft room, pine cones from a friend, and newspapers from my friend Sally. Total cost: FREE!!
