faux-naïf: adjective

artfully simple

new word alert for me...was looking up the definition for faux and discovered faux-naïf and discovered that it's meaning was a perfect description for my lay out. I love learning a new word! Anyone else ever use this word before? Did I use it correctly?
:)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My desk is a mess! I am currently working on sooooooooooooo many things at one time. I have my 31 days of ribbon, which I try to use ribbon every single day for the month of July, and am working on some Easter submissions for the Cricut Magazine. What you're seeing on my desk is one of the Easter submissions, to the left, you can see sketches I make, ( really late at night when I am trying to sleep, I have to get out of bed to jot them down or I forget them by morning, kinda like a dream! ) and I think I have every single drawer open! lol What a mess!
I know a lot of us discuss how we go about commenting during WOYWW, and usually I do everyone that is before my name, then go through the list picking out friends, and if I have any energy left over, I start at the bottom of the list and work backwards as I feel this group doesn't get as many comments. Last week for the very first time I visited every single blog!! If I didn't leave a comment it might be blogger wasn't cooperating or worse, you still have word verification on! I'll try once, but if I didn't read those wobbly letters correct and it refuses me then I move on to the next blog.
Have mercy on my eyes, and please ...
:)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since my discovery of neglect with my photo album, I have been trying to correct that issue. This was Jamie's last visit in February when we celebrated our dual birthdays and Christmas.

Cricut - font cartridge - Letter Envy

Frosted Designs - Fabulous Friday Challenge, Pattern Paper only!

I love this embellishment I added to a banner by laying down Scor-Pal tape, and covering it with Really Reasonable Ribbon hemp cord and adding a brad. You can see I don't wrap all the way around as it would leave my banner a little wonky and I want it to be as flat as possible. I try to keep my album embellies on the flat side and not add too much bulk.
American Craft - Marvy markers

You can also see that I love to doodle on my pages to provide interest vrs. bulk. So I dotted the edge of the banner, even adding a matching dot to the center of the brad, and added some shadowing to the brad for some faux-naïf dimension. Yes, I love my pens and markers. :)

Congratulations on visiting every blog! That is awesome! I did that once, isn't is such a feeling of accomplishment!!

I love the layout that you made. Its so great that you were able to incorporate so many pictures and such detailed journaling as well!

I love to see layouts with lots of personal journalling on them, they will be truly treasured for their handwriting alone in years to come.

Wow, my friend, that is some achievement, I have only done it twice but it is so hard to visit every single person - and word verification (#****#)- enough said. Love the colour of that twine and the way you do it, must give that a try. I like the sound of the definition but never used it before..........Happy WOYWW, Anne x #21 (thanks for your early visit)

Loving the layouts - I'm a newbie scrapper so my eyes ping whenever I see one!! I like all the journalling - that's really what a scrapbook is all about to me. Your desk might be messy but it is one which is full of creativity. Happy WOYWW! Victoria no.25

It's been a long time since I managed every desk... I start at the top of the list and work as far as I can during the Wednesday itself and then more if time allows later in the week..helen, 6

Had to laugh about you jumping out of bed to jot down a sketch, I do that when I'm making up poetry if I cannot get to sleep.

Word verification is frustrating. What a star you are getting round everyone. I'm away from home this week but have linked up one of our days out

I'm so impressed that you managed all those desks Sandee...how did you manage that? Magic!
I don't think I'll ever do it even though I try so hard each week.
Your desk looks very busy but then that's obviously where all the fun happens.
Thanks for visiting me earlier...that's one down (Hehe)
Have lots of fun ~ Neesie #20

congrats on visiting every single blog that is one mammouth effort, I know coz I have done it a few times. Love your layout and I really like how you have journalled in your own handwriting something people don't do much of anymore. This aspect I do admire.

Thanks for sharing.

Really believe that hand written journalling is the signature in your scrapbook. Loving the banner design, I use them loads. Also loving the state of your desk..makes me feel like I should have a halo for today! Once in a lifetime never hurt..!!

Hi Sandee well done on visiting every blog! What a feat. I tried to do it once and I had to give up half way through! I love your layout with all the fab journalling. I sometimes struggle with it and tend to tuck it away somewhere. This style looks fab though and the journalling with your penmanship has definitely added to the overall look which is fab. Great Job! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 39

Wow, you do so many things, how on earth do you get the time? I love the banner you made for your layout and I love the layout itself. I'm hopeless with albums, they sit empty and all the photos are loose in a cupboard, even my wedding photos!!
Have a great week and thanks for all the lovely comments you give me, I really appreciate them.

Oh Sandee I love the LO so much. So pretty and designed so well. Love the embellies you made. They somehow are extra special when you make them yourself.

Messy desk means creative goodies have been made so no worries. I shared my desk today and showed the clutter underneath too.

Have a great day!

Hi Sandee, this popped up again in my reader and there is no comment from me.........I did one, honest. I think I said I have not used that expression before - oh dear it must be my age, or can I just blame it on Blogger.........Crafty hugs, Anne x

Wow! Every single blog last week? I haven't managed that yet, that is an accomplishment. Good luck with the submissions! -Meechelle #112

That is a major accomplishment!!! I usually visit all the names I recognize, then everyone who has the same ending number as me, and then everyone who comments on my blog. I hope to try and hit everyone some day, but that won't be until the kids are back to school at least :)

That's two of you now that I visited who said that they visited every blog. I tried to do it myself and came really close. I visit the same people every week now, picking and choosing them out of the list. If I have time I go back and visit the folks whose number ends in the same as mine. That is a good way to visit folks you don't usually visit. I try to stop in the next day to visit the folks after me on the list because we're near the end. I also visit folks who commented on my blog. Very scientific!

Love the heaps and pulled out drawers! You've been busy. I couldn't even begin to think of Easter now, so kudos to you for doing so.

Wow what a busy desk, I love the thought of playing with ribbon everyday. How long did it take you to visit everyone, I have never managed more than about 1/4 it takes too long as I always leave a comment and some posts are very long. Here I am rambling on. . . no wonder!!

Well Sandee, you and I are twins then - we visited every blog last week lol!! I shall probably never do it again, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing some gems that I'd hate to miss in the future. I've now got a list of "must-visits"!! It's quite long...

Glad you enjoyed my annotated photo! Thought it might vary the mix a bit! My desk was a mess... Still is, today, just a different mess lol!

Love your banner with the twine & doodling, and I love "faux-naif"!! Lol! You are obviously a girl after my own heart who likes words just for the sound they make, e.g. plinth, ironic, obfuscation... He he!!

Love your easter eggs too. What fun.

Happy WOYWW,

I used to be able ti visit every blog and leave a personal message, unlike some whose message you know is generic. But now, I can't seem to get more than 80 or so and my computer just gives up, quits, and needs downtime.

I like your treatment of the hemp on your banner. I didn't play this week because I'm so busy.

Great layout...love your ddodles!
That was quite an undertaking to get to every blog. I have managed that a couple of times but agree about the pesky verification words...:(

Kalea Wavedancer said...

I cannot believe you used pink on a page that has me on it. Dumbfounded.

Elizabeth said...

Congratulations on visiting every link last week - I never manage that many. I vary my approach each week, sometimes using yours and sometimes starting at the last ... depends on how late I am in joining in as to which method of approach I use :))

Hate word verification because I'm dyslexic ... life is quite complicated enough without making it into an obstacle course!

Your layout is great - and like your method for keeping the bulk down. Very dimensional layouts are quite beautiful but they are harder to store in an album.

Love the term faux-naif. I've often used the term faux to describe my fake bows or when I use a pen to produce false stitching but never faux-naif. Often it is the sound of a word that appeals to me - my all-time favourite is serendipity, but how about lycanthropic, sibilant, souciant - the list goes on, and then there's my native Scots, a language full of interest, e.g. clype (a telltale), dominie (headmaster), dunderheid (idiot) - love them all.

Hope you have a lovely weekend in the hills of NC, Elizabeth x #24
