Paper Playtime - Anything Goes

How can you not think about winter after seeing the inspiration picture? All the leaves have deserted the trees and are swirling around in the wind over here in the mountains. We have gone from chilly weather to downright...bbbrrrrr! But I am sure we will have some warm days here and there, until then I am wishing for snow. I know, there is something seriously wrong with me!

I made a gift card holder:

The gift card sits in the sleigh, just glue down the sides and bottom of the sleigh body.

Embellished it a little :)

Sunday with Sandee - Typography and lettering

Well, I guess it's something we need to discuss....our handwriting. I hear so many people complain about the way their handwriting looks, and how much they hate it. So let's just get over that and pretend that we love our handwriting....as a matter of fact I want you to say out loud..."I LOVE my handwriting and I am not afraid to use it!"....there, feel better? Now how do you feel about typography, let's combine them.

handwriting:
the way a person's writing looks

typography:
the work of producing printed pages from written material
: the style, arrangement, or appearance of printed letters on a page

I created this page trying to come up with some interesting layouts for each quote along with doodling some simple, fun and hopefully interesting letters.

Frosted Designs tutorial using inks

I love, love LOVE the 2013 November Mixed Media Kit from Frosted Designs! I made this 6 x 12" wall hanging using most of everything from the kit!

and a short video explaining the different ways I used the inks:
( OK, so I am still learning how to edit my videos, the caption that comes up saying "opps I meant to say Lemon Zest"..is suppose to be when I am showing the Lemon Zest spray but calling it Fresh Lime!!.. All I can say is, it was in the right spot when I saved the changes!!...ugh!! )

I love the Faber Castel watercolor crayons, they sure made coloring in my digital image easy! I love how you can mix the crayon colors together to get a custom look like I did with her hair.

And the Faber Castell PITT pens made coloring in those tight small spaces a snap!

None of my projects are complete without the use of my Helmar products and popping up her head is one of my most favorites...Liquid Scrap Dots!

Sashaying along with Helmar ♥

Scented sachets can be homemade and come in many sizes, styles, shapes and fragrances, they are a small cloth scented bag filled with aromatic ingredients...not to be confused with sashaying through a crowded room in 3" heels.

I always make a small hand made Christmas gift for my neighbor ladies that live in the same building as I do. This year I am making them some monogrammed sachet bags.

I am going to be using Helmar Craft Glue along with the other products to create my sachet bags.

First, fold the bag in half and run a line of Helmar Craft Glue
across the glassine bag and adhere some lace trim.

Next, use a rub on to decorate the front of your bag. You could use a sticker too.

I use the Helmar Craft Glue to hold my charm onto the lace and then use thread to tack it down. I don't have to sew the charm onto the lace because the glue will secure it but I like the look of  "I hand sewed this! " because it appears that I took more time to make it than I actually did!
(Just make sure to keep the bag open and not sew it shut. )

Then I add a line of Helmar Craft Glue right above the lace and lay my string of pearls over it. It really grabs hold of them and secures them easily!

To finish it off, add a ¼ cup of scented crushed potpourri to your bag, fold it back over and glue the flap back down to seal it in.

You can make lots of quick and easy gifts for the upcoming holidays
with Helmar Craft Glue at your side!

Sunday with Sandee - watercolors and gelatos

Hi everyone, today will be a little different because instead of just one technique, I'll be showing you from start to finish how I did my journal page. The 2 main supplies that I am using are the Faber Castel watercolor crayons and the gelatos....along with molding paste, stencils, pens and ( Deco Art paint, which came in the October Mix Media Kit ). All the products are available in the Frosted Designs store :)

So here is my finished page:

And here is my video, I tried to keep in under 15 minutes ...which was hard to do!!

some close ups:

I can't wait to see what you make, please post your pages on the Frosted Designs Facebook page so we can all see them! See you next week!

Frosted Designs - November Mixed Media Kit reveal

The 2013 November Mixed Media Kit is here!! Yay!!
I had so much playing with the plaque from the kit, making it into a little love sign.

Here's a little slide show on how I put it together:

a couple close ups:
I just love how the ink wicked into the flower.

I had a lot of fun doodling around the circles making them into flower, and the tiny coordinating polka dot buttons perfectly matched the ink colors!

The polka dot letters from the 2013 October Mixed Media Kit worked extremely well and I love being able to combine my kits together.

It's so much fun to get a kit each month, sometimes you get things you wouldn't ordinarily buy, but that's the fun of it because sometimes you are so happy when you try something new!!

Poltroon: noun

a spiritless coward

I tried to use Tracy's color palette, with the colors I had on hand and had to cut the quote short so it would fit the tiny journal. I also used stamps instead of stencils, it was easier to work with.

One of the things that I can look back over the year on and be thankful is about my experience with the Art MoB. I have been so lucky to have had such a good year that I made the decision to move up to an actual booth. Yep I am no longer just a wall display artist..I am in the big leagues now...well, more like the little leagues...lol

Not only will I be able to hang up more work but I plan on adding 2 more card bins and a low table to display my 3-D projects!

Anyway, I am very grateful for all the lovely people who brought my art into their homes, they may never know how much they touched my heart by doing so.

Wax on....wax off?
( watch if you want to find out what I'm talking about, lol )

Well, this is a technique that I have used several times with my signs; here are 3 that were created using this technique :
This is the page I made today from the video, I love it so much I will be making a wall sign that will be similar. The colors, while not quite monochromatic, just work well together. ( You can pop over to the Frosted Designs page and see why there is a difference between the page on the left and the one on the right..leave me some love while you are there! )

Can you guess what the center of the flower is made out of....can you guess where to go to find out? ;)
