Page Maps - boy-girl challenge with Stephanie Perdue + Fancy Pants prize!

"Create a layout, based on the sketch above, in a boy or girl theme. We'll be looking for something creative in place of the flowery embellishment on the sketch."

So here is my LO, with acorns and leaves replacing the flowery element. I also added a button instead of more flowers alongside the journaling.
and a close up for your viewing pleasure:
I altered the colors of the orange dots on the polka dot paper by coloring them in with a lighter pink so that they would match the colors of the flowers better and used pink letters and numbers to further tie in the colors together.

I loosely glued the acorns and leaves down so that they have dimension, without using any pop dots

also entering this in:

Moxie Fab  350 Cards and Gifts Week - Gift Card Holder Challenge
365 Cards - Day 131 Put it in your Pocket
All that Stickles - Cotton Candy Linky party
Inkspirational - Challenge #19

You know, put a pink glittery balloon on a gift bag and I'd be happy. Nope, it doesn't take a lot for me :) Of course, one that holds a gift card makes me a little happier and this one does slip out of the bag for ease of shopping! :)

I love this background paper, it's a flocked embossed texture that feels so good to run your fingers over.
Added lace to the inside of the bag to emulate tissue paper. I do recommend adding a bit of wax paper into the bag to keep the glue from adhering the bag together. The handle is created the same way from a piece of twine.

The balloon is sitting on a glue dot and I tried to shape the balloon over it to give it a more rounded look. I spread some stickles over the balloon and then outlined with the same color. Filled in with some glossy accents.

Ranger - stickles ( cotton candy ), Glossy Accents
Really Reasonable Ribbon - twine
Making Memories - ribbon
Cricut - Everyday Paper Dolls, p. 43

Heidi Grace - paper is old, from 2007..I've been hoarding it that long! lol

Grotesque: noun

a style of decorative art characterized by fanciful or fantastic human and animal forms often interwoven with foliage or similar figures that may distort the natural into absurdity, ugliness, or caricature

And here I thought they were gargoyles!! So, did you know that gargoyles have a purpose? Do you know what it is? Answer at the bottom of the post ;)

Carey took me to the Biltmore Estate Inn for a 5 star breakfast!
And it was deeeellliishhh!
We needed a fortifying breakfast cause we were going to the tip top of Biltmore today. See the flag flying up there? That's where we are heading...by stairs...lots of stairs....

I was standing in the Italian Garden when I took the above picture and here is the view of where I was, from the top of Biltmore.
Here is the view in reverse, once we were up top.
Breath taking, windy and cold....but oh so worth it...every single step!
And who says that George Vanderbilt didn't have a sense of humor? Grotesques with butt cracks...lol
and boobs!
These are things you don't get to see on the ground!

Did you know that a gargoyle is a spout in the form of a grotesque human or animal figure projecting from a roof gutter to throw rainwater clear of a building?
So now you know the difference between a gargoyle and a grotesque!
