Crafty Cardmakers - Challenge #88 Humor
Card Makin' Mamas - Challenge No Pattern Paper
2 Creative Chicks - Challenge #1 Mother's Day

It's been a really long time since I used stickers and doodling to make a card....made me think back to the time when we used decorative scissors and glue sticks too, :)  It was actually kind of fun to create and sure was easy to make. Seems like cards are a lot more work these days, like little LO's, so this was rather refreshing.

( I did alter the Prima flower a little bit, I removed the pearl and replaced it with the yellow gem so that it would match better to the flowers on the sticker border. )

American Crafts - Slick Writers
Prima - flower
EK Success - gem sticker
Kanagroo & Joey - stickers

I never get these answers, lol I think I am brain dead! ;)

The answer is:

paltry
( inferior, trivial )

thimblerig:

to cheat by trickery

Adding another camera themed card for the Moxie Fab - Camera Craze...I mean, how much fun is one allowed? I hope endless amounts! This will be the 12th card in my 30 Mother's Day cards in 30 days challenge issued by the Art MoB.

I love that a very old Cricut cartridge had something that would work for the ever trendy camera craze, which is a Polaroid frame. I can still smell the chemicals from my dad's Polaroid and watching with fascination as the picture emerged right in front of our eyes...just like magic!

I added a small dollop of LSD under the butterfly wings, just to give it a slight dimension.

Echo Park - pattern paper
Cricut - Country Life, p. 73 ( flowers )
Don Juan cartridge , p. 70 ( Polaroid frame )
Paisley cartridge - p. 40 ( butterfly )
Helmar - Liquid Scrapdots
Faber Castell - PITT pen
Dymo Label Maker ( perfect retro labeling for the Polaroid frame! )

Aud Sentiments Challenge - Easter

I don't really need to explain the sentiment....do I girls? lol
The rabbit looks too scared to answer!

I think I cut the carrot from Create a Critter cartridge, it was a while back when Cricut gave us a free cut in the Cricut Craft Room. It's a really cute cartridge...and Jamie, if your reading this....it would make a fabulous Christmas present for me next year..hint hint...lol

Ranger - stickles
Maya Roads - tan felt flower
EK Success - Gem sticker
everything else - from my Easter stash bag

So, the question begs to be asked.....Does size matter?

heartstring: noun

the deepest emotions or affections — usually used in plural

 ♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣♣

As trends go, I don't usually adhere to them as a general rule. I like to do my own thing, sometimes I'm lucky and what I like happens to be a trend. Well, I love cameras, actually retro looking cameras tug at my heartstrings.  I even still have my Brownie camera from the 1960's!! Isn't it cute?

But I prefer to use a high tech digital camera....hmmm...
I am a woman in conflict...
or just fickle.
Actually I am a retro spirit stuck in a modern world.....or an old person living in the past?

The sentiment was printed on a piece of card stock and laid under the lens opening, then a piece of acetate laid over it and 2 layers of rims with a thin layer of Scrapdots spread between them for a slight lift to finish it off. The wrist strap is a random recycle piece that I tied a knot in it and then glued it between the base card and the cover layer. Camera outlined with a metallic marker. I love this hounds tooth print for a masculine card.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for this challenge, I know I'll be checking out every singe submission!

Cricut - Everyday Paperdolls, p. 41
( used Cricut Craft Room to create the card base )
French Manor cartridge, p. 31

to the clock face cut to create a silhouette image )
Helmars - 450, Liquid Scrapdots
Ranger - stickles, Diamond

EK Success - Metallic Writer
Pink Paislee - Front porch, Bayberry Cottage Collection
cording, acetate - misc.

Vocabulary Quiz time ☼

OK, bloggers let's see how you do :)

Go HERE to take the quiz...
Would love to know your score if you want to share, but you don't have to ;)
I scored a 2380 missing 3 out of the 10

Somewhere along the way today I fell into a Folk Art feeling....it just sort of evolved....I didn't put a sentiment on it, it just felt wrong to do so, she is way too cute to be cluttered.

I even "studied" Folk Art pictures for awhile and looked up what it meant:
"Folk art is typically not what most people think of when they hear the word “art.” It is not usually in the form of paintings or Greek-like sculptures. Another definition states that folk art is a result of ordinary people expressing themselves through their creation and construction of utilitarian objects that convey meaning and value to themselves or others within their culture. Typically the patterns, motifs, techniques and materials have special significance and can reveal a great deal about a cultural society."

I think "my society" is whimsical and fun ;)
My "society" also enjoys sewing French knots and using Liqid Scrapdots for added dimension, after all a whimsical "society" cannot be flat and boring can it?

Cricut Craft Room - Create A Critter ( free cut, but NOW I want to buy the cartridge,
darn you Cricut!! lol )
Reminisce - white pen ( that somehow soaked up the color of the paper so it's a pale plum color now )
EK Success - Shimmering Bright Dots
Helmar - Liquid Scrapdots, Gemstone Adhesive

zarzuela: noun

a usually comic Spanish operetta

( honestly, I don't see being able to fit this into any conversations I hold, lol )

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got the words from Pinterest and unfortunately didn't google the author until after I had already finished my piece. I say unfortunately because there was so much more to this and I wish I had read the whole poem before I began.

I wanted to share it all with you. This poem was written some time ago. The simple statements contained in the poem can be applied to everyday life. It really applies to everyone in all walks of life. We can learn a lot from trees if we just take the time to look and listen.

 Advice from a Tree

by  Ilan Shamir

Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Think long term
Go out on a limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance
The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go of leaves in the Fall
The Rest and Quiet Renewal of Winter
Feel the wind and the sun
And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of the stars at night.
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasures Earth, fresh air, light
Be content with your natural beauty
Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs sway and dance in the breezes
Be flexible Remember your roots
Enjoy the view!
