Gel Press® and The ART of well being

Art provides a sensory experience that can restore our spirit, soothe our soul and tame the inner beast.

I am equally right and left brain balanced.
I learned that I feel off  sometimes ( especially when it comes to art ) by being centered. Think that is weird? I do! I knew something was different about me when I began scrapbooking many, many years ago and everything being asymmetrical was very popular. While I loved the look of it, and I tried to do it...  I found that I kept putting things back in symmetry...lol
So while I liked it ( right brain ),
I could not do it ( left brain ).

Now many years down the road I have come to terms with the fact that I love dozens of techniques and ideas but have come to grips with the fact that I cannot institutionalize them into my art work. Abstract art being one of the hardest things for me to master but by using the Gel Press® plates I can create abstract art..
it frees my left brain!
And this makes me feel wonderful!

How I made my interactive journal page
( the brain opens up on the page )

I first began my making my brain by...
1. folding a piece of paper in ½ and drawing a brain on the top and cutting it out
2. Used my Gel Press® plate to create the colorful right side to symbolize creativity, feelings, dreams etc.
3. Using stamps with letters and numbers for the left side of the brain to signify logic, puzzles facts etc.
After I made the brain I drew the shape of a head over the top of a gel print page that I had created in my journal with Tim Holtz® Distress Ink Pads. Using some words that correlate with right and left brains I wrote them along the shape of the head. ( Left brain words on the left ½ of the head and right brain words on the right ½ of the head. )

Then I wrote the results of the Right Brain Left Brain test. If you want to take the test and see where you are on the right or left side of your brain then go HERE

And now I have to say something before it kills me....

This is your brain. This is your brain on Gel Press®.

OK, I feel better now. LOL

I KNEW I had to be like you since I can completely relate to your struggles! I love collage etc but have such trouble doing it! I took the test (very fun) and sure enough - 46/54. Thanks for sharing - this was great. Oh, and love your artwork (sorry for not mentioning first)
