ho: noun

slang: a derogatory term for a woman
( lady of the night, street walker....oh enough already..a whore!! )
lol
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone out in WOYWW land of messy desks and creative minds! How are you doing today? I hope all is well and that you have time to stop and chat a bit with me. I was MIA last Wednesday, it's the first time since I began WOYWW that I missed a day...better than my school record; I must say! ::patting self on back::...hee hee

I can't show you a picture of my desk because it has some Christmas Cards on it that I am making for a group swap, but I will share a picture of some Pitt Pen love which is laying on my desk....I keep all my pens and markers in baggies. I know that may sound weird but I have an obession with them. I have Slick Writers, Renee Lingren Markers, Glitter Gems and StarLightz ( together because they are glitter related ), Sakura Glaze pens, Galaxy Markers, Gelly Roll Metallics and EK Metallic collection ( also together since they are metallics ) and I also have a drawer for my random collection of pens: Copics, Reminisce, Uniball, and Close to my Heart, and lastly, a box on the shelf contains Sharpies and DecoColor Paint pens. Wow, that's 15 different kinds of pens/markers that all have their unique usage!!
Are you a pen/marker ho? Evidently I am, lol
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, since I touched on a Christmas card swap....would anyone be interested in exchanging handmade Christmas cards with me? I would love a WOYWW swap with all my buddies. If you're interested, please e-mail me at sandeesetliff@yahoo.com, put WOYWW x-mas card swap in the subject line so I don't delete you!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would also love to share my new business cards that I made. The obvious part is the palette shape with the information about where to find my "stuff". But the best part are the colors and the dates.

Now let me explain why...:) The colors with the days of the week have an importance! ( nothing to do with my art, are you confused? ) The explanation is simple, really it is! I am shy when it comes to promoting  the "sales" part of my business, so the colors/days of the week are important as it is a conversation starter for me. You see, those colors/days of the week represent the twisty ties on a loaf of bread which let's you know how fresh the bread is!( found on Pinterest ) In other words, something for me to talk about that's not pushing the sales of my art. I've been able to hand out cards to bank tellers, Office Max people ( who bless their hearts, let me fondle the different weights for paper to print my cards onto, lol ) and to complete strangers at the bread isle.
Now, if they happen to ask me about 'Sandee's cards and signs' then I can tell them all about my "stuff". If they don't, well, hopefully they might check it out. Regardless, I am hopeful that this is the kind of business card that won't get thrown away, or dumped into a larger pile of junk in a drawer, but will be pulled out and used as a reference, maybe even shared with a friend!( and yes, some of you may notice that there isn't enough room for "Artful Words", unless I drop down the thumb hole, which I plan on doing later )
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for the long post, I guess missing out last week made me feel all wordy and such, just so much to share with you all!
::::group hug:::::
...now go on...visit the others, tell them I said hi!

Those artist palette business cards are really cool!
And yes, I have far too many different types of pens, BUT not as many as you :)
Happy to swap Christmas cards, although I've not made a start on them yet :)

I am definately a promarker ho and keep all mine in colour groups in plastic bags too! (dont see the point in paying out good money for the holders when I have too many pens to fit anyway!). Love your business cards too - very eye catching, I handmade mine when I was selling software a few year ago. Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl no. 57

That is such a fantastic idea for a conversation starter! Love it. It can be really hard to promote yourself without feeling like you are bragging, so this is fab.Have a great Wednesday, Hugs Shaz #96 xx

Sandee,

I never realized I was. "Ho" too until I read this post, lol! I won't even list my markers because I would blush there are so many.

I LOVE your business cards and think it was very clever of you to make them the way you did so that it will help you to feel comfortable promoting your business, what a smart lady you are!

That Idea is really brilliant, we dont have colour tags on our bread here for the days. You do and what an easy way to give out cards and start a conversation, again brilliant. I would love to do a card swap but will have to make them first before committing any more, time will be critical and not much of it for me spare actually no spare time, let me see for a week or so. How many cards Sandy? get back when you can you know where I am. LOL

Let's see. I have two Gelly pens that are dead, and a bunch of Sharpies. I'm obviously not a marker person, preferring paint instead. But it sounds like YOU are.

Love, love, LOVE your new business cards. And I had NO idea this was how bread was marked. Who knew? Well you did, obviously (thanks to pinterest of course)

Happy WOYWW from # 2.

Hi Sandee,

I love your business cards!! Very cute. Love that they are displayed in a little easel too.

I'm not good about promoting myself either. Heck, I usually don't even have any of my cards in my purse. One of the things I don't like about art and craft shows is standing there and watching people walk by my booth!! Or look at something and say "I can make that." I wish we had the sort of store where you have your things - that would be perfect!!!

The business card holder is another one of my "project pinterest" makes from the same set of candle holders. The bracelets are an idea I came up with based on the fabric wrapped clothes hanger.

Thanks for visiting me.

Hugs,

Those cards are excellent. I have the same trouble with promoting my pet portraits. I can do it on the posts but not to people directly. Maybe I could make a doggy card (he he). You have quite the collection of pens there, any shop would be proud to have that many.
Have a great week.

Really cool business cards Sandee! I love the opening that it gives you when you are trolling for new prospects! Markers...dear god I took leave of my senses and just ordered what amounts to 102 new alcohol markers from Crafters Companion. I have never gotten into the Copics (because of price) but friends of mine are using the Spectrum Noir that use Copics and they say they can't tell the difference. SO $2 vs $6 a pen I am going to give them a try. Might have to look into the metallics you are talking about...are there different types of ho's? I think I am a button, paper, marker, die ho! ;-) Have a great week and thanks for popping by my blog for a visit. Vickie #71

I love your business cards, Sandee! They are so striking, and different from anyone else's I am sure! What a great idea.

Also I love your "still life" of your markers. Great idea to store them in baggies - I have a thing about baggies too and hoard every one I can get my hands on. I keep my rubber stamps in them, and lots of other stuff besides.

Thanks for your visit and your nice comment - I'm definitely feeling better now but the situation here is still far from easy, and not likely to improve any time soon, unfortunately. However, I shall grab every opportunity I can, when I feel creative enough and energetic enough to be in my ARTHaven! I've just uploaded a post about the art journal page in my new little book, which I finished last night, if you want to hop over and have a look.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Hmmmm, a "ho" might not be 100% accurate, since you don't engage with the pens for money. You (and I and many of our friends) are merely. . . um . . . promiscuous? OK, that's not much better, is it? Just not liable to land us in jail. lol I've loved pretty papers and pens since childhood. I still remember loving felt tip Flair pens and the Bic ballpoint that held four different colors. Your business cards are such fun -- I know I'd never be able to toss it out.

Great to have a talking point built into your business cards... gets you straight into conversation. I think the shape is far from obvious - very cool! Not a pen person myself, but I can totally see the attraction!
