vivid: adjective

strikingly bright or intense in color
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over at the Artist Playroom, we have a challenge to do Zentangles, or as this ole' country girl calls them, doodling! And I cannot do them in black and white either, just like photography, I cannot wrap my mind around lack of color when there is so much color to see and use! So here is my "doodle" for this week, it's part of my AB for Elizabeth's online class where we are focusing on Lesson 9, which is backgrounds:
I used my Sakaru Glaze pens and metallic pens by EK Success. I love the vivid colors from the pens!
I concentrated on three elements in my design, swirl, lines and dots.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I seem to have been on a creative roll of sorts, so when my downstairs neighbor asked me if I wanted this old stool, my eyes glazed over and I think I actually drooled. lol I did clean it up so you've been spared the dirty version full of dirt and cobwebs, aren't I nice? lol
Next I added a coat of gesso, I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing that gesso and a little chicken soup can't cure! After that I sanded it to distress it and then put a clear coat over it to protect the paint.
Next, it went back to my craft room where I papered, added ribbon which I inked to make it a deeper orange, etc. and it now looks very colorful, like this:
I love the word strip which I highlighted with my white pen , and the buttons that cover the screw heads:
Added some cork to the top for a coaster effect and a little green paint around the edge:
and here it is, lovingly placed beside my chair, with my ice tea already on it, and my clipping shears. I love the tray underneath to hide hold supplies, fans and plant tags.

I am entering my stool/side table into Unique crafters Challenge # 4, Buttons.

I've been gone from blogland all day, so when I saw this stool, I fell in LOVE. I have one of those stools, but it is more the cobwebs and dirt kind. This is awesome.

I can't wait to see the finished pages in your AB, but I can wait a few more days (grin).

I agree. Nothing compares to gesso and duct tape. I'm a closet MacGyver. BTW, I had a board I wanted to use to repair a spot on the back of my house. I used gesso because I couldn't find any white paint. It really DOES work for everything.

Wow, Sandee, what a talent you have for doodling (sorry zentangling), it is an absolutely stunningly gorgeous fish! As for your table, well I am almost speechless (had to say almost as I would not have been able to finish this) it is an amazing transformation and looks wonderfully bright and cheery now, love it. Fabulous job. Anne x

Wow you're being a show off! Getting your APR done so quickly! I only just read the theme this morning! And then making that plain Jane stool into such a work of art - I'm impressed and it's just adorable! I love the whimsical nature, the colorful touches and then topping it with cork was genius....you'll never need a coaster!

Hope you had a successful yard sale. Those are always such a lot of work, but it feels so nice to get rid of some of your old clutter. I have one every other year or so just to clean out the closets and make a few dollars.

Hey Sandee,

You better not let your neighbor see this - they might want it back! It looks great.

And I love your zentangle!!!!

Wow! Loving your craft stool. What a find. Don't you just love it when you make something neglected come to life again?

I wanted to compliment you on your ZEN TANGLE fish! I love him. I love his colorful body. when I see the Zen tangles in color, that sparks my interest to try my hand at one.

I pretty much played basketball with the trash can on Jenn's challenge this week and ended up empty handed.

I agree with Tracey, not relaxing at all for me, but maybe I just needed some COLOR!!!

Beautiful submission!

what a brilliant fish all done up in his finest colourful gear!
You've done an amazing 'tangle Sandee.
I'm thinking I need to start adding colour to my designs. I used to use vibrant colour all the time in my silk paintings but I've kept the zentangles black and white...well for now anyway.
The stool looks amazing. So cute and useful!
Have a great week ~ Neesie
