life drawing confessions

I found a studio holding life drawing sessions again after several months and it felt good to get back into it, although I felt very rusty at drawing people again.

One of the hardest things for me to do is to "loosen up", I stay way too much in my head worrying about the details and sometimes it's difficult to crawl out and stretch...so to speak.

5-minute poses
One of the most difficult aspects for me is foreshortening. His arm is all wrong but I didn't erase any lines just kept moving onward. Feet and hands are also challenging and I do OK with them, but trying to do the face and make it actually look like the model is the hardest thing...like ever!! Make believe faces are oh so much easier!

17 minute pose

My biggest confession is that I am timid at drawing naked bodies, no matter male  or female, but it does make me feel artsy like I'm back in the era of Botticelli, Modigliani, or de Goya etc. although I'm thinking I should try Picasso's style and be done with trying to draw realism, lol

I agree with Tammie good for you for jumping right in. I wish I had someplace like this where I live. I think you did great.

Yay!! you got back into the life drawing. I started, then stopped after a few sessions. I found it challenging! I guess the truth is, I am lazy when it comes to new challenging techniques. So I commend you for going for it!
