kanban: noun

a manufacturing strategy wherein parts are produced or delivered only as needed
pronunciation

Jen from Scrappyjen has turned me onto a great blog called Inky Fool
Ya know, I luvs me sum good wordage! lol
I have invited Mark Forsyth to stop by my blog, but he may be too hoity-toity to do so, sometimes authors are notoriously unreachable...maybe if some of you visited him and asked him to visit me, hee hee
Of course he may also be intimidated with a female dominated blog too...most men should be!
~be afraid Mark, be very afraid~
I wonder if he would show us his desk?
;)

Hello my WOYWW friends!

Hope you brought your umbrella along cause it's raining cats and dogs here! We have roads washing out, mud slides and flash flood advisories all around the area. Thankfully I don't live in any of those places, but I am keeping the proverbial eye on the creek that runs behind my place...
Deeyll asked me if her card made it to me so I wanted to make sure that she sees that it sure did! Thank you Deeyll :) You can see a thank you card I am currently working on, and I added a holder under my shelf for my scissors, they kept hiding from me so I fixed them that!

Now my post may be a tad long winded today, but oh so much to accomplish, so skip if you want to, just don't tell Julia on me, I hear she cracks a mean whip!!

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Challenge, Lace  Love

I had been asked..or did I volunteer? to create a large display box for the Art MoB as Michele is going to do a Valentine display at the store. I don't know if you remember me making the boxes ( which was a WOYWW post 153 ) for my craft show but this is one that I adapted into a Valentine themed box. The whole time I was working on it I just kept thinking about the Valentine shoe boxes that we use to adorn with an abundance of hearts and doilies at school that would sit oh so proudly on our desks waiting to be filled with handmade Valentine cards.

We would have a party too, with actual cookies and candies ( none of the healthy snacks they make you bring now a days! ) and we also decked out for these parties wearing anything and everything that was red, pink or white.

Ahh, the good old days!
So onto the box, I covered the old topper with 2 bands of a doily trim that I got from a scrapbook crop ages ago, and decorated it with ribbon, lace, a flower and a couple of sticker hearts.

I cut out a large heart with my Cricut and then hand doodled around the edges with my PITT pen.
I also used different font stickers to give it that hand made look. Like I said, I was really deep into reminiscing about my childhood memories! lol

flower, red ribbon,heart stickers,doily trim - misc.
Fancy Pants - lace, chipboard letters
Creative Memories - sticker letters
Cricut - Doodlecharms cartridge ( heart, p. 85 )
Letter Envy Font cartridge
Ranger - Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel
Faber Castell - PITT pen

I'm getting my kanban on for St. Patrick's Day; I'm up to 11 cards so far!
bye y'all, see 'ya at your desk!

Ha! I'm here now! Sandee, try to remember that you've only fixed the pesky scissors if you put them in the same place each time you finish. It's a life skill! Love your colourful glasses...I don't have mine on and thought they were fancy ribbon for a second!!

Sounds like some challenging weather conditions down your way -- it's snow this morning up here in the hills of upstate NY. Don't worry, some schools still let the kids eat treats for the holidays -- ours does. :) Glad you found a way to corral your scissors -- can't do without 'em! Happy WOYWW from chatty Laura #118

Hi Sandee,

It sounds like you are safe from the floods - you are smart to keep an eye on the creek behind your place though. Water is very destructive and most people don't realize it.

Your card display box is GREAT. IF I do the craft fair next year I may do some boxes like that for different occasions.

Happy WOYWW

I love your little tube for your scissors, will be waiting to see if it works for you and maybe give it a go, mine are always going walk about! Love the display for your cards too! Hope the rain stops and the creek behaves!! Annette #3

Love your scissor tidy, but it still depends on remembering to put them in there rather than abandoning them wherever. We have had non stop rain since last March with the result that the water table is full to the brim and the water now has nowhere to go other than to cause floods. I am hoping to get down to some serious crafting tomorrow, with a lot of luck. have a good week. xx Maggie #37

Well Kanban is a manufacturer of crafty goodies to me here in the UK. No idea what you are on about in your description - it must be a bit late LOL.
Love the scissor holder, how did you attach it asks BJ with loads of spare pots! Thanks for visiting me BJ#55 and don't forget the wellies!

The only whip I know Julia cracks goes on behind closed doors!! LOL!
Great box for your cards there and i hope they do well.
You asked about my glass "board" on my desk. It is actually the top of my desk. I bought it like that from Ikea. I liked the fact it had a shelf underneath and if uncovered it has some vinyl work underneath too. It is great to slide my tools, scoreboard, mini guillotine underneath. I have a glass cutting mat on top of that too. The top is held up by a set of drawers on the one side and a trestle the other. I am saving my pennies to buy another set of drawers to match the first set. I have shown my desk uncovered and naked before so I will try and let you know when that was!

Brilliant display box for your lovely cards, Sandee. Sorry to hear it's so wet where you are and I hope you survive the flooding. Thanks for your visit and your lovely comment - so glad you like my zentangle efforts this week! I've added a note to that post, directing all my WOYWW friends on a downwards scroll so they don't miss my WOYWW post with all its attendant mess in my ARTHaven lol! I posted the zentangle one immediately after it, and lots of people are missing it!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Oh yay! I am glad the card made it there. :) The card you're working on is looking very lovely and that is a super idea to coral your scissors like that! So handy! I know I've told you before but I still love the paper towel holder mounted right there. I am forever turning around to grab tissues from the shelves/work surface behind me where I leave them. Anyways, hope that creek stays behind your house and not in or through it like some naughty creeks will do! We could use the rain here in OK so send it over, 'k? ;) Stay high and dry!

Not long winded enough for me, Love the card you received from Deeyll, she does make some beauties and is so tallented. I also adore the card holder stand I saved some similar to re-decorate for my cards that I am going to display later in the year. Just have to work out when to do them. So much like yours they are but they held Christmas Candy Canes. LOL

Anyway like always and interesting desk, please stay safe from the floods. We are in a heat wave at the moment but saturday I think it is going to cool down, today was 40 degrees plus.

Happy WOYWW
