So here is my LO, with acorns and leaves replacing the flowery element. I also added a button instead of more flowers alongside the journaling.

I altered the colors of the orange dots on the polka dot paper by coloring them in with a lighter pink so that they would match the colors of the flowers better and used pink letters and numbers to further tie in the colors together.

I loosely glued the acorns and leaves down so that they have dimension, without using any pop dots

I really enjoyed watching the video tutorial that Tim gave showing how to use the Distress markers with the Distress Inks and with using water. It's like having a whole new set of products to play with. I didn't have the stamps he used but found this coloring page to play with. I also made a bow using the tissue tape, love it!



I had a lot of fun making this charm by printing out a heart with the quote, then forming a wire in the heart shape and filling it in with Glossy Accents. I love it...

 but confession time alert:

I purposely left room to write "unknown" on the bottom right corner of the heart but forgot to do it because I was enjoying the whole process too much! lol

Inkspirational - Challenge #5 Anything Goes

It looks like a very simple card and it started out that way too. I used the image from the paper as the base for my card and added a funny sentiment.

 

I love to add detail to my cards that don't add bulk but have as much "ohhh ahhh" factor as splashy big bows, or heavy buttons....so I add sewing. I hand stitched around the bird, branch and leaves using colors as closely related as I could manage with my DMC floss. It's a nice attention to detail with a bonus of a tactile finish.

Hello my WOYWW friends!

Hope you brought your umbrella along cause it's raining cats and dogs here! We have roads washing out, mud slides and flash flood advisories all around the area. Thankfully I don't live in any of those places, but I am keeping the proverbial eye on the creek that runs behind my place...

Deeyll asked me if her card made it to me so I wanted to make sure that she sees that it sure did! Thank you Deeyll :) You can see a thank you card I am currently working on, and I added a holder under my shelf for my scissors, they kept hiding from me so I fixed them that!

Now my post may be a tad long winded today, but oh so much to accomplish, so skip if you want to, just don't tell Julia on me, I hear she cracks a mean whip!!

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Challenge, Lace  Love

 

I had been asked..or did I volunteer? to create a large display box for the Art MoB as Michele is going to do a Valentine display at the store. I don't know if you remember me making the boxes ( which was a WOYWW post 153 ) for my craft show but this is one that I adapted into a Valentine themed box. The whole time I was working on it I just kept thinking about the Valentine shoe boxes that we use to adorn with an abundance of hearts and doilies at school that would sit oh so proudly on our desks waiting to be filled with handmade Valentine cards.

 

We would have a party too, with actual cookies and candies ( none of the healthy snacks they make you bring now a days! ) and we also decked out for these parties wearing anything and everything that was red, pink or white.

 

Ahh, the good old days!

So onto the box, I covered the old topper with 2 bands of a doily trim that I got from a scrapbook crop ages ago, and decorated it with ribbon, lace, a flower and a couple of sticker hearts. 

 

I cut out a large heart with my Cricut and then hand doodled around the edges with my PITT pen.

I also used different font stickers to give it that hand made look. Like I said, I was really deep into reminiscing about my childhood memories! lol

So in that spirit I added canvas material to my board. Most of you that know, know I paint on board so this was a fun venture for me to create a wall hanging using canvas material. First I adhered the material to my board, then spray painted it a light pink. Then I painted the 2 red hearts. Next I punched the holes through the canvas and board ( would have been so much simpler to have done this step BEFORE adhering it to the board..::sigh:: ) anyway...I sewed on the flourishes.

The scissors were created by sticking down my metal Flashing tape to computer paper, printing out the scissor clip art onto it, embossing the wet ink, cutting it out and then running it through my Big Shot using a Fiskar swirly embossing plate.

Yesterday I showed some gift wrapping ideas, and today Chrissy shows how to make some water color gift tags...I just LOVE the picture of her husband and kiddies making them..I think the littlest has a future as an artist!

It's the last week of our Handmaking the Holidays and it's crunch time for everyone to get their gifts wrapped up, which means it's my turn to make sure that everyone is inspired to do some creative gift wrapping! Here are some Pinterest inspired ideas:

 

How about re-cycling some old sweaters for a cozy wrapping?

 

Or use up all your odds and ends of ribbons past and create an eclectic wrapping? I personally do this every couple of years, it cleans out the Christmas ribbon stash that way, and you don't need to add a bow either! ( no link provided )

For all the yarn enthusiasts, how about making some big fluffy pom poms?



 

And for the bakers out there, include a cookie to adorn the tops of your presents! And instead of pine needles, how about a sprig of rosemary or thyme? ( no link provided )

 

I hope some of these ideas will get you motivated to be a little creative this season! 

( I have discovered something I really hate, and that's Pinners who don't provide a link or who do not link a project directly but link the whole blog!! That's so frustrating and such a turn off for me, I don't even go looking for the posted project, which is what they think they will get you to do, but I leave their blog immediately..is it just me?

The background was created with Ranger's ink pads: Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick; applied directly to the board from the pad and then embossed with Stamp -n-Stuff: Red Dragon ( gives the background a rough glittery look )

 

 It's not too often that I find a product I am not happy with but I do not like these chipboard letters. The black coating came off just in the gluing process....really? ,They are made by Fancy Pants and I was very disappointed by them. Since they were scraping off I decided to go with the flow and gave them a good sanding to rough them up and then I sealed them with my Golden medium. I glued them down with my Helmars 450 which is perfect for adhering to rough or slick surfaces like the embossed background.

 I really enjoyed using up the numbers from old sticker sheets, GREAT feeling to use them up! I cut the heart from my Cricut: Doodlecharms cartridge, p. 85. After sticking on the numbers I applied a layer of medium and then a piece of tissue over them. ( just to make sure they don't lift off and to subdue them a little )

The bird is cut from the French Manor cartridge, p. 39. Cut from Tim Holtz Grunge paper ( I love cutting images from this stuff, cuts soooooo clean!! ) I used Ranger's ink: Broken China to color in the bird and used American Crafts Marvy marker to color the little pieces.

 The flourish comes from TH grunge board: Elements, which was sprayed with Dylusions: Fresh Lime. I used my Helmars Liquid Scrapdots to lift the flourish up equal to the chipboard heart.

The journaling strips were cut from an old Christmas card and each piece outlined with my Faber Castell Pitt Pen. The entire piece and embellishments were outlined with my charcoal pencils and my Close To My Heart marker.
