batting: noun

layers or sheets of raw cotton or wool or of synthetic fibrous material used for lining quilts or for stuffing or packaging

Welcome to week 3 of Handmaking the Holidays!
I hope you have been enjoying all the wonderful projects that Chrissy, Melissa and Heather have been creating for you :) I know I have!

I have been making wrapped boxes for the Art MoB, they are doing pretty well...3 of the 6 below have sold. The heart box, gold snowflake box, and the butterfly box.

They all have Velcro closures so who ever buys them just has to open and then close it back up and they have a pretty box for gift giving.
( Baby powder is used on the underneath of the holly embellishment to keep it from sticking to the box )

I have also made an ornament box ( it sold too ) which is my "tutorial" for today. The ornament I purchased is called a photo ball ornament. I got it last year from Walmart after Christmas so I could get it cheap . After gluing snow paper to the insert, I placed 2 trees directly onto the paper and the third tree is pop dotted out. Then I used glue dots to hold the reindeer in place. Placed "snow" left over from last years Santa village in and sealed it up with Aleene's Tacky Glue.
This is the front.

The back of the ornament is filled with batting to hide the "gift" inside.
( The little stand is a paper roll cut and covered with paper )
You can see the stuffing here a little bit better. Cut 3 squares and lay together and then trim into a mound shape which fits the inside curve of the ornament. The top 2 layers are glued together.

Oh my goodness I have just been on the best tour in ages. I checked out the little mint holders for the table, how cute, then onto the card and ornament gift ball and the best of best those gift boxes, totally devine. What a power machine you are producing all this stuff at this time of year. I am only managing to distribute hampers and toys and go to work. LOL

Sorry I am getting back to you so late, been busy, busy, busy. But I am so glad I did what eye candy.

Hugs Eliza

Good for you...so you're 50% sold out!
Love those boxes and the butterfly one was my fave.

I have never seen the ornament box so that was fun to see how you made it.

Hi Sandee, your boxes are all stunning, love the butterfly one best - not surprised you have sold so many. As for the bauble, that is amazing, I have not seen those before - what a clever idea and your have decorated yours so beautifully - again, not surprised it sold! Hugs, Anne x

The boxes are amazing! Getting a present wrapped in one of these boxes is like getting two presents!

The ornament is beautiful. My mom used to make these kinds of ornaments when I was a kid. It was fun to see them again!

I can't believe how much I have missed. I've been reading away and fell in love with that sign you made for day 1 of your daily entries. Forgot what it was for, since I read so much and didn't take notes (grin).

I liked the boxes, but the ornament blew me away. I have never seen one that opened in the center before, so when I first saw it, I thought you had somehow stuffed the deer and trees down the tiny opening in the top. Laughed like crazy when I realized how you made it. Great job.

They are all so beautiful! Love them all. I've never seen an ornament open like that. How fun! I was wondering how you got a gift in there until I saw that picture.

Wonderful! Your boxes are gorgeous with all their little details - love that closure.

I've never seen the photo ball ornaments. Another thing added to my "to get" list.

Waving hi from the Attic. ;)

Hi Sandee, I'm trying to catch up on my comments because I've been ill so please forgive my absence.
Your boxes look fabulous, they really do! Wish my other half would wrap up presents like that!
The Christmas bauble is really gorgeous and such a clever idea that I'm not surprised it sold! I'll try to catch up with some of your other work before Christmas.
Thanks so much for sharing your projects with us at Anything But A Card.

Hi Sandee,
Wow - you've been busy! Your gift boxes are beautiful. It is funny that they've been bought by women. I would have thought it would be the men that don't do wrapping, do last minute gift shopping, etc.

Last night I made some peppermint bark for the first time - with NO recipe! Tonight I'm making puppy chow. tee hee

Hugs,
Kay
