Short and thick; stocky

I created a chunky little zen - doodle birdy for my wall hanging.
"Everyone seems normal until you get to know them"
true, huh?
( Sentiment from the title of John Ortberg's book )
I quickly drew a bird shape, not thinking too much, just letting my hand go where it wanted and accepted what I got. No erasing. Then I zen-doodled the little bird, and added lots of layered stickle dots for her tail and yellow glitter for her beak. She also has painted toe nails and a pearl accent on her butt. She is after all, a cheeky bird; having taken the flowers out of the mason jar vase, to give to you, but not before perching jauntily in the jar!
My new found love is the thin wood that I tore for the "shadowed" effect under the mason jar. I also used Sheena's embossing folder for the jar too.
I have recently re-discovered a cigar box filled with empty vials and their wrappers. Loving the texture and feel of the wooden paper wrappers, I gently tore them into small strips and layered them under the bottom of the jar. They are fragile and I do have to store the papers in the vials or they would just be shredded before their time!
Sizzix mason jar die
Sheena's embossing folder - Floral Fabric
Ranger's stickles - Cinnamon, Thistle, Platinum, Fruit Punch
Really Reasonable Ribbon - twine and shimmer
LuminArte' - H20's - Fairy Plum
gesso - Daler Rowney
chicken wire stencil - unknown
pens - Ranger Distress Marker, Close to my Heart, American Crafts - Glitter Gems, Galaxy Markers
Maya Road - flowers
font - Candy Buzz
papers, pearls and rhinestones - from stash
I have 2 wall hangings in my craft room, which means one has to be removed for the other one to be hung. Decisions have to be made...hmmm?
do I love it more than the others? If so, which one gets taken down?
The vote is in and "Everyone seems normal" WINS a spot on the wall!
The crowd goes wild...well, OK...maybe not wild....lol
Which means "Weird Love" is now off the wall, bagged and tagged,
with "You Can't Buy Happiness" remaining on the wall for the second week in a row! :)

...this is so pretty Sandee and so much detail and how true is the sentiment...Mel :)
Very nice work! Love the colours.
Stunning creation, love those flowers!
Thank you for sharing with us at Divas this week, good luck!
Hugs Shell xx
awww, your birdie zentangle is adorable. I must admit my favorite tangles are of things, objects (birds for instance, lol) instead of just a string tangle. I love your birdy, so cute.
Thanks for participating in my IA challenge!
Best,
Jenn of www.JustAddWaterSilly.com
The sentiment is so funny, and true too. Lovely bird and the whole project is great
ok wow! the doodling is amazing!! that bird is too cute
Hi Sandee, you should win just for the fabulous bird and the sentiment, which is so funny (and true I guess). Loving the flowers too and the embossing, in fact I love the whole piece - great job. Crafty hugs, Anne x
I love this! The colors are so cheery and I love how the bird took the flowers out of the mason jar! And that quote is just fabulous :)
Love your new wall hanging -- the quote is funny. . . and true. :)

Your zentangled bird is adorable and amazing. The texture and layers are awesome - another winner! - yes, definitely deserves a spot on the wall!
Pretty, pretty, pretty! I love your doodled birdy. It's simply perfect :)
wow!!!!you are very attentive to details!!!!!! love it
Such a cute chunky bird. The word "chunky" reminds me of what my hubby calls my LEGS - yep you guessed, "Chunky Chicken Legs!" I get my own back though and call his "Stick Legs!". All life's rich tapestry..........BJ
Your bird may be chunky, but she is filled with beautiful detail & doodles! I love the painted toenails!!! Cute job!
Beautiful card, fantastic image with delightful backing papers.
Thanks for joining us this week at Fab 'n' Funky Challenges

I'm always amazed by your designs Sandee...they're always so original using all manner of items to create a beautiful piece of art!
I think it's brilliant how you list everything...so inspiring.
I love the sentiment of this wall hanging too. ;D
I love your little zentangle-d bird! Putting patterns inside a shape is harder than it looks. I've tried it, and haven't had good luck (or skill) to pull it off. Your patterns suit the bird so well!
I love this! I can see why you picked this one to win out for awhile until you come up with another wonderful design! The flowers the bird the jar, all so wonderfully fun and pretty with sparkly details!
This wall hanging is just fabulous! Love all the fabulous detail you put into it. Great job.
It's so pretty Sandee! Did you do it on canvas or just plain chipboard?
