What word begins with "p" and completes this sentence from a former Word of the Day piece: "Anna told us she was tired of engaging in __________ work and longed to do something meaningful with her life"?

Crafty Cardmakers - Challenge #88 Humor
Card Makin' Mamas - Challenge No Pattern Paper
2 Creative Chicks - Challenge #1 Mother's Day

It's been a really long time since I used stickers and doodling to make a card....made me think back to the time when we used decorative scissors and glue sticks too, :)  It was actually kind of fun to create and sure was easy to make. Seems like cards are a lot more work these days, like little LO's, so this was rather refreshing.

( I did alter the Prima flower a little bit, I removed the pearl and replaced it with the yellow gem so that it would match better to the flowers on the sticker border. )

Hi WOYWW'ers..missed me? Well, I missed you guys!
I haven't done a WOYWW post in 2 weeks!

I have been sooooooooo busy, I've joined 3 Design Teams,  ( and it has taken a short adjustment period to get use to being on 3 teams, but I have a handle on it and have been progressing nicely, although I have tons of notes set up so I don't forget my challenges and what numbers to comment on!! ) THEN, I got accepted to do the May Arts New Release Spring Craft Challenge...and I've already sold 4 signs for this month so I need to make MORE! ( special note to all the Ranger fans, my first sign made from one of TH tag designs just sold!) woo hoo!!

And some of you ( Thank you from the bottom of my heart for checking in with me and encouraging me along the way, it's been GREATLY appreciated ) have been keeping up with another challenge of mine which I am finishing up TODAY!!! The 30 Mother's Day cards in 30 days challenge issued by the Art MoB ( which is the gallery where I sell my things, for those of you that don't know )..and now we are going to have a "show" on April 6th for all the participants; ( whew ) so I am begining to work on my display...which is why I have the floor picture instead of a desk picture today.
What's on my desk at the moment? ....is me typing this post! HA!

It's a work in progress, just trying to get a general idea of how to arrange them. As you can see there is an empty space on the bottom row...which is where card #30, the last, the final Mother's Day card will go!!

True or False Quiz time!

Are you ready? Here we go!

( oh, evidently I was not ready, lol )

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I admit I was distracted yesterday, the sun was shinning, the birds were singing and I had cabin fever. I spent the afternoon out on my balcony cleaning, and pre-planning what flowers I want to try this summer...lol...I say try because it's a rather shady spot, and flowers and shade aren't the easiest combination for growing beautiful flowers, foliage, yes.

So working on a card was distracting...so being that I was in a scattered state of mind I went with a base that I could work on, and then walk away from and back into the sun as needed. I decided to create a mosaic base, and once it was finished I gave it a light swipe with some gesso..looks like tile to me. The pieces of paper are all from my scrap bin..which is growing larger and needs to be worked from!

OK, the card may not be that great, but I love the paint brush!! lol
I had the most fun with this, I sewed the brown bristles, glued on the green fiber. Embossed the brush handle and used flashing tape for the band. It was a blast making it!

A few more pictures to share with you from my trip to Biltmore, the rooftop Architect's Tour.

From this vantage point you can get extreme close up of the beautiful architect.
This is Mr. Vanderbilt himself, carved in stone up among the many gargoyles and grotesques...he really did have a great sense of humor evidently!
If you look close enough you can still see some of the gold leafing that remains on the tiles since 1895.
When you are inside the Biltmore, you are NOT allowed to take any pictures and there are sentries/guards stationed all over the place to make sure that no one touches anything or takes pictures, but our guide let us take one of the huge chandelier that hands in the grand stairwell.
There are definite perks to being in a secluded employee tour!
"The massive stone spiral staircase rises four floors and has 102 steps. Through its center hangs an iron chandelier suspended from a single point, containing 72 electric light bulbs."

I wanted to use the Ranger palette in the background, creating a soft backdrop for the cross. I dropped a small amount of ink on a piece of wax paper, added water and painted the colors with my water pen. Heat set and then spritzed with water and blotted.  Printed the saying directly on the card. My cross is outlined with Faber Castell PITT pen.

Ranger is having their seasonal palette contest again!!

Ranger products used:
Distress Stain, mustard seed ( back ground )
stickles, baby blue,yellow,lime green,lavender ( butterfly )
Distress marker, broken china ( filled in the lettering )

To get the background, I dunked the crumpled paper into a wash of water and Sistress Stain, let it soak for a minute and then removed it, flattened it out ( gently ) and heat set it.
I had lots of fun playing around with the stickles in some different ways. I blended the yellow, baby blue and lime green in the large open part of the wing. I also outlined the lavender wings with baby blue while it was still wet by pushing in the baby blue next to the lavender.

I love speech bubbles, maybe it's because I wanted to be a cartoonist when I was a little girl, but this trend makes me smile!

I added Helmar's Liquid Scrapdots under the butterfly wings and used their Gemstone Adhesive  to glue the pearl body on. I also doodled around the outside edge of the base card to emulate the white dots on the speech bubble.

paltry: adjective

inferior, trashy

 mean, despicable

  trivial

meager, measly

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
( Click on the picture to take you to TH tutorial )
So here is my take on Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013 as a 6x12" wall hanging.

The only question I have ....
Is this feminine grunge?

I cut my label from the Cricut, French Manor cartridge, p. 54 at 7 x 4.361" ( took it to the Cricut Craft Room to remove the extra cuts so that I had one solid cut ), if I had the proper bunny silhouette cut I would have used the CCR to layer my cuts and would have been done, ( much like TH showed using the mover and shaker die and the bunny die ) but since I didn't; I had to print out and cut a clip art bunny shape, use a tiny bit of double sided tape to it and laid it on top of the label and then used my Fiskars Finger Tip knife to cut the image out. Inked the edges with Antique Linen ( but note to self, make sure mat is clean as other inks will transfer, which is why I have a rosy tint to outside edge of the label )...sigh

How many of you held your breath when applying the heat gun to your tinsel?
I know I did!

I found this great sentiment on the Internet by Gene Audrey and thought it fit the sweet retro feel to my sign. I used Traveling Typewriter font and embossed it since the nice shiny DCWV helps the ink from the printer stay nice and wet longer. I love the Blue Moon Beads hummingbird charm :)

My grass was cut from the Cricut cartridge, Country Life, p. 73. Since I didn't own any of the kraft core paper, I cut my image twice. One in matte shade of green ( 2.5" RDS ) and the other in a shiny green ( 2." RDS - flipped ) I flipped the image so that the grasses would not line up and give a similar effect to offsetting the cuts like TH did. Then, I inked the edges of the grass using Antique Linen with my blending tool.

The most fun was had when I finally broke open my stash of Distress Paints, ( and yes, I am the proud owner of every single color.) I was giddy with excitement....OK...not really giddy but darn happy! I wanted to make some Easter eggs to along the bottom and thought I'd try a Tye dye egg or 2...or 3. I used the broken china, spun sugar and mowed lawn...yum! ( I did learn that poor spun sugar can be quite overwhelmed by her sister colors so ended up putting extra spun sugar on top of the other colors after they dried. ) Eggs cut from Cricut's, Stretch Your Imagination, p. 67 ( used in CCR to remove the paintbrush )

#15 -  Mother's Day card

Kinda came about unintentionally, while looking for a green card stock I found this negative cut that I must have done ages ago. I placed a piece of my sprayed tissue underneath it,
and then accidently smudged a bit of gesso on it.....darn.....
that's what I get for working on more than one project at a time!

I sat there and looked at it for a moment and then thought, what the heck. Got out more gesso and lightly spread it onto the card, lol Thanks for the Mixed Media Monday gals for helping me pick out a button :)
