Tap Pants: noun

The name of this lingerie suggests its history.
This style of underwear resembles the loose shorts that women used to wear while tap dancing.

Want to be in a magazine? Like sketches? Maybe a chance to win some shopping money?
Well then, this looks like a great time to enter the sketch challenge over at Die Cut Crazy Magazine where you have a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate over at Two Peas in a Bucket!

Dec. Sketch

I love card sketches almost as much as I love my Cricut! So, when I get to combine the two...I am happy as 2 peas in pod....or a bucket, in this case! :)

I used the bride and groom cut for the vertical border on the sketch.

I used a banner shape for the bottom border shape and the butterfly in place of the circle. The butterfly's wings and the sentiment banner are popped up with Liquid Scrap Dots.

I water colored in the grooms tux and added pearls and glitter to the brides dress.

Sunday with Sandee - under journaling

Have you heard of under journaling?
It's a secret sort of writing out what you feel, what you think or maybe what really just plain bugs you!
The words you choose to use in your work mean more to you than they do to others so my advice is to write from the heart, you're going to cover it up anyway, you will be the only one who will really know what's written there. In the meantime, you will have created an awesome layer that will peep through.

My video is here, over at the Frosted Design's blog ♥

I love this butterfly stencil, it has turned out to be one of my favorites. The butterfly symbolizes transformation and it has others as well: endurance, change, hope, and life. No wonder we love butterflies!

You can barely see the underwriting journaling, but it shows through just enough to add another layer of interest to the page.

I think one of my favorite parts is the eyes...that and the swatch of white hair, but then I am becoming more partial to white hair, lol

Please feel free to print out the outline of the face if you would like to trace her. I would love for you to give me the credit and link back your own creation if you use her. ♥

I hope you create a page with under journaling and post it over on the Frosted Designs Facebook page!

Pretties

Using the plural noun pretties to refer to dainty things goes back at least to the 1700s.
Some early uses refer to toys and jewelry, but the word was also applied to women's lingerie.
By all rights it should be a lovely word, but because of its association with the Wicked Witch of the West ("I'll get you, my pretty!"), using it at a lingerie store today might sound a bit creepy.

This is a gift card holder, the gift card slides in and out of the top of his hat with the card opening up so that you can write your sentiment inside :)

I stacked 3 plastic snowflakes on each other ( love my Helmar's 450 for adhering pieces like that together! ) and then added a pearl on top. The whole piece is popped up with some Liquid Scrap Dots for some dimension.

Helmar - Summer

It was kinda surreal to be designing a summer themed project right after our first snow fall of the year and temperatures in the 30's, but nice too. Thinking about the summer for me, means Panama Beach Florida where I vacation every year...beach, sun, swimming...::sigh::

This is my 6 x 12" wall hanging that I designed:

This was my first time experimenting with Helmar's Fabric Stiffener & Draping Liquid and I must say I was delighted and will definitely use this again. Not only was I able to mold it to the shape that I wanted ( I laid a piece of wax paper over my sea horse so that I could mold the curve to match ) but after it is treated, you can paint on it and the inks don't bleed like they normally do when applied to fabric.

After the lace piece had dried, I adhered it with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

Adding decorations with my Helmar's Gemstone Adhesive:

Enjoying playing with my typography and lettering:

The paper came from the Frosted Designs October Mixed Media Kit, on top of the paper was a lot of layering of these products:

Merry Widow

Hollywood routinely influences fashion, of course, but rarely names it directly. One exception involves the strapless corset that actress and pin-up girl Lana Turner wore in a 1952 musical that won an Academy Award for Costume Design. The film was The Merry Widow, and the garment has been called that ever since

I'm always glad when anything sells in the store, but it make my heart extra happy when something Christian based sells...and I can say that my Prayer Journals are doing well, I need to make a couple more to get my inventory level back up.

I really wanted to make the heart...lol It was fun to cut the heart out of the joint compound tape and use molding paste to create the texture. Pulling up the tape was a little scary but it worked out great.

Deco Arts and Frosted designs - Art Journaling

Acrylic Pour
A technique where you drip or drop acrylic paint down onto your pages.

I sized this page with gesso first and then I used a gel medium and Goosebumps to add some texture. Let this stage dry thoroughly before adding the watered down acrylic paint.

Controlled drips:

Ink Blots
Applying your ink/paint onto one side and pressing the other side down onto it.

My pages using the Acrylic Pour technique along with making Ink Blots:

For those that are still working on their lettering and typography, I thought you might enjoy this word stretched out to further emphasize " I love cows"...with some symbol imagery, a "heart" and the word "bovine".

And to all my lovely Mixed Media friends, I know your fighting the urge to laugh and make a comment about my horns versus my halo....go ahead...::snort::...this one is for you.
