It was ugly...I admit it!

Hi everyone, I am up today over on the Earth Safe Finishes blog. Now, this is the finished version (the red drainage tray) if you want to see my shame, lol...in other words the "before picture" then please go visit over there. It was rather pitiful, I had a cheap plastic tray which had cracked and I fixed it with duct tape! Oh yeah, that made it look like a man lived here!! THEN, a chipmunk or a squirrel had gotten into my birdhouse planter and dug out the dirt which was all mixed in with the pebbles that was in the old tray....can we say...an ugly mess? I was thrilled to get this huge tray from this neighbor who was moving out, it was the perfect size to replace the old, cracked, duct taped, dirt filled tray from before! HA!

And yes, I am hoping that the pinecones and the orchid will keep the little varmint out of the planter.....hopefully?

Pure dedication

Yes, I am dedicated to my art and am willing to go to great lengths for my art. :) I have an upcoming project for DecoArt and I am willing to finish up my bottle of Moscato (my favorite) wine so that I can get started on it tomorrow. After all, I am a responsible dedicated artist willing to go to whatever extreme to succeed....I think I need to come up with more projects that include wine bottles in the future, dedication ROCKS!

Oh, and if you are into hiking and the A.T., then this book is a fabulous read. It's been made into a movie too starring Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, I can so see them in the lead roles! It's a comedic read and I was giggling out there while reading it, and no, it was before the wine! The book has been hard to put down, I spent most of the day outside on my balcony reading, but I must say that the 1st chapter reaffirmed my smart decision to not walk the A.T.....lol

Southern Flying Squirrel

The southern flying squirrel is 1 of 2 flying squirrels found in North America— the other one is the northern flying squirrel.  Both southern and northern flying squirrels are found in North Carolina, although the northern flying squirrel is rare, occurring at higher elevations on only 5 or 6 mountain ridges in the western part of the state.

Southern flying squirrels live in hardwood and mixed pine-hardwood forests. They require older trees with cavities for roosting and nesting, and in winter readily roost together in surprisingly large numbers. Tree cavities have been found with as many as 50 roosting squirrels. Because of their need for tree cavities for habitat, they are a natural competitor for woodpecker’s homes.

This little guy is sooooooo cute! He can have all the bird seed he wants! I don't have one visit me often so I get excited when I do! lol

The southern flying squirrel is the smallest squirrel in North Carolina.
