Paper Playtime - Red, Yellow, Blue

Ch# 20 Yellow, Red, and Blue
Begins: Monday, Sept 30
Ends: Sunday, Oct 13
Prize: $10 Gift Certificate
I freely admit that I struggled with this color combination at first. But I grew to love it as I played around with it. Do you ever have certain colors that you have issues with? For me, it is the color yellow, I rarely use it on anything, but maybe I should rethink that, huh?

(OK, here is my confession about the stamped image!! ) HA!

I had to make a quick card today because their birthday is tomorrow...well, today as you are reading this. I don't know about you, but a sketch, new products to play with and a little inspiration goes a long way!

I won some Creative Inspiration paints the other week and this was the first time that I got to sit down and play with them. The tree and the leaves are all painted in with the shimmery paints; with the leaves, scarecrow and crow being outlined with a glaze pen and the tree trunk outlined with a pearl pen.

I used my FAVORITE adhesive to pop up the leaves under the scarecrows feet!

Marshmallow: noun

pronunciation

A confection with an exotic past.
The marshmallow gets its name from the mallow plant that grows in marshes.
In ancient times, sap from the root of that plant was used to make medicinal syrup and ointment. Eventually, that same sap became a source of candy.
Today's supermarket marshmallow is untouched by root sap. It's made from corn syrup, gelatin, egg whites, and sugar.

Frisbee - noun

 Frisbee - pronunciation
"The story involves 1950s college students playing catch with cake tins and pie pans – sometimes from the Frisbie Pie Company of New England.
There was already a plastic flying disk on the market called the Pluto Platter, and the students nicknamed it Frisbie. When Wham-O bought the rights to that plastic disk in 1957, they respelled the nickname and made it official.
Because Frisbee remains a trademark, the more earthbound generic term is flying disk."

Yay, I am so glad to be home! So glad to be crafting again, I'm not sure that my decision to not craft at all the entire week I was gone was a good one or not ;/

Quick check at the Art MoB finds that I need to make 6 female birthday cards, so expect a few, just a warning! My first one up is for Paper Smooches - Trend Watch challenge

Considering I only have 2 sets of Kim Hughes stamps, this was a happy start back into card making for me today.

Here is my card using her Surf and Turf stamps:

I colored in the little fish using distress stain first and then gelatos, finishing off with some doodling and cut him out and adhered him to the face of the card.

When I saw this image being used by one of their DT members over at Card Makin' Mama's, I just knew I had to have it. It's a digital stamp offered by From the Heart Digital Art Stamps called Martini Chicks. I think it will be a big hit at the store and couldn't wait to try it out. Very easy to color it in too!

Where do the cards from hell go?
They go into my private bin to be sent to friends, they are cards that for on reason or another cannot be sold. Let's take this one for instance, shall we?

This card has caused me so much trouble right from the beginning. First I really don't make ladybug cards, and it's not because I don't like ladybugs ( I love them ) but I don't like the Cricut images that I have. So I finally decided on one. Now I need female birthday cards and I could NOT find a sentiment I liked for my ladies who buy my cards and it took me like forever to find something I liked.

Not starting this project off well, am I?

Next, the striped paper has a torn edge which I didn't realize until after I was gluing it down. Then, after all was said and done and re-done, I put the yellow background complete with printed sentiment and lady bug, on UPSIDE down and didn't notice until the glue had all but dried. Tore it apart, cussed a little bit, and did it over, but at the last moment scrunched the yellow paper this time inserting it into the photo corners. ....sigh....really?

Even taking a picture of this card turned into a chore. Had the perfect place and then, wham, bright sunlight complete with shadows. Seriously? Even when I got around to editing it I can see little paper dusty thingies on it, you probably can too if you enlarge it. But as for me, by and large, I don't care, I'm just glad it's done!

Hello to my wonderful WOYWW friends.
First I want to thank EVERYONE who voted for me, sadly I didn't win, but it sure is nice to know I have such wonderful friends who took the time out to vote and encourage me on. I will still have the book made ( and they will give me 2 ) so I plan on giving one away.
So keep tuned for that if you are interested. :)
((( big group hug )))

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well, just in case it isn't I added a few words of my own on it! HA! The Gardening Mojo is stronger than the Creative Mojo today but they are fighting for equal control over me on most days.

Hope everyone is having a fun peek around the world :)
I know I will!
and if you are new to this concept, anyone can join, take a picture of your crafting table and link up, it's fun and you'll meet a lot of great ladies and a few men :)

I didn't have a Smooches stamp that I felt would work with the gold theme so I used the free digital stamp, which I love. Those gift bags are too cute and very easy to color! I'm not sure this is a CAS card but since I sell my cards; my customers want a little more layering and frou frou sometimes. And my girlfriend birthday cards for the ladies are my top selling cards, so I cannot disappoint them!

The gift bags were printed out twice. Once on the base card along with the sentiment and then on card stock where I used several different golds to get different textures and dimension.Cut out the image and then pop dotted up it up.

Inkspirational - #22 Anything Goes
Anything But a Card Challenges - CHALLENGE #20...DUST OFF YOUR OLD SUPPLIES
old products:
The flower and small golds beads are so old that the packaging no longer exists. The wired beads came from my Christmas wreath box ( the one I use to change up my wreaths from time to time ) The felt flower button is about 5 years old and the gold leafing is about 10 years old. The crown was in my die cut scrap bag, haven't a clue where it came from. The orange paint is from my stock, it's a large bottle, been there forever!

Here begins a new adventure for the Art MoB: bird plaques. I had Genuinely Jane Studios custom make them for me at a 5x7" size. I have to say I am really enjoying altering them.
I sewed the wooden bead and small gold beads through the felt button before adhering it with 450. I scraped the leftover 450 that gets on my finger over the birds wing and then gold leafed where it was sticky.
( The wing is made from chipboard. )
The tail is made from a large flower folded in ½ with the botton sewed through the fold to keep it nice and tight.

Genuinely Jane Studios - wood bird plaque
Walmart - wood beads
Helmar - 450
flower button...not sure but I won it recently, if anyone knows, please tell me, I'd like to order some more of them

Hi everyone, here is your Monday inspiration over at Frosted Designs where our new challenge is to use punches. What do you mean it's not Monday? sshhhh....don't tell on me, I am posting this a day early, you really weren't suppose to notice!  I do hope you go over and see what the other lovely ladies on my DT have come up with, the creativity astounds me sometimes!

OK, so coloring on the canvas was a wee bit of a learning curve. When it's wet my gelatos ran...so had to wait for it to dry and then went back in with my pens to try and straighten out the coloring a bit. They color much better with markers. I added some glitter to the wings.
I admit I don't have many punches. I never invested in them especially after getting my Cricut machine, but I have a waterfall punch and used it here on the bottom of my card.

The fairy was first stamped on the mulberry paper and then restamped onto cardstock, colored and fussy cut, then glued over the stamped image.

I adhered the mulberry paper to the front of the tag and then wet the edges and pulled it off to give it a soft feathery look. Ran the tag through the printer for the fun birthday sentiment. Hand stitched around the edge.

I create the "to and from" part of my tags on the back so I can decorate the front as much as I want :) By addind the back layer it also hides my sewing.

hackneyed: adjective

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
( I turned the sketch on it's side )

Here is my card for the DCWV April's Stack-a-holic Template challenge using the Animal Crackers Stack, and I have to tell you that it's been awhile since I have had this much fun making a card.

First off, this is one brightly colored stack, that's what drew me to it in the first place. I love all the glittered pages but it caused me some problems in the beginning of the sketch as all the colors were competing against one another...but I rubbed some Ranger's Distress Ink over the leaf portions to tone the white background down, and wow..instant resist!! ( Ink it and then rub off with a paper towel any ink left on the glittered leaves! ) Now I began to enjoy the process a little more!

One of my favorite pages from this stack is a page of toucans, and I love to cut them out to use. I fussy cut this one, outlined him with my Faber Castell PITT pen pop dotted him to try and separate him a little more from the background elements.
I also love this sentiment which I printed off the computer, the Happy Birthday is a stamp from CARDZTV.

Now how many times can you say that you have giggled at an element that you created? I wanted to make it a birthday card so that I could also enter it in Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Happy Birthday. ( second entry ) I knew I wanted to add a birthday balloon in the toucans beak, so I had this Balloon shaped raindot by Cloud9 that I wanted to use and I was randomly placing it over images from the stack trying to figure out what would work and when I placed it over the monkey I actually LOL'd! Come on...I know you're smiling too!
It looks to me like the monkey somehow ended up inside the balloon and is quite surprised about it himself!! I think the toucan has an evil sense of humor if you ask me!
