entering my mermaid 6 x 12" wall hanging in:
Anything but a Card - Challenge #17 April Showers ( water themed project )
The background was created with Ranger distress paints and Imagine's goosebump spray. I used bubble wrap to soften the colors and spread them out. After it dried I ran the sheet through the printer for the words using the Super Delicious BT font. Then I drew my mermaid with a Zig Ocean marker.
Her tail section began with some glitter paste, which gave her bottom half very nice texture. I then dropped Ranger alcohol inks into it which spread..dangerously so...but in the end I was able to keep them contained. But I admit it was a touch and go moment! I used Helmar 450 to attach the chains to her waist, throat and wrist.
One of my favorite parts to this wall hanging is the border I created with the Atlas maps. It's created with 2 strips which made for a nice inlay look to it. ( one strip is ½" and the other one is ¼", layering the ¼' strip on top of the wider one ) Her body and hair were created with Faber Castell geltos and various pens and markers. However, I still struggle with faces.
Lastly I added a few micro beads for her bikini top...I do usually make modest mermaids, ;)

simply stunning! awesome job
Wow - she is a work of art! Love all the details!
Sandee, this is just beautiful. I'm admiring the micro beads..I just used some recently (poinsettia stamens) and had a heck of a time, adhering. (Used G.Accents) Yours look great. I really enjoyed reading the details of how you created the mermaid. I need to visit you & watch you work. I know it is fascinating! (Still no A.Art for me - YET!). I have the goosebumps...not used those either! (I buy stuff, don't use it!). TFS a wonderful art piece. Hope you have nice weather today. Hugs
Just beautiful. I love how you did her tail, it is so perfect, so many blended shades, and the fun background. Her face is lovely too. I was given a bottle of "goosebumps" as a gift and I haven't figured out how to use it. I will give it a try. I love seeing the different mediums you use as I learn something new each time!
Stunning piece of work! Your drawing is amazing! I love her tail! xx
WOW this is gorgeous. Love that mermaid.
Have a creative day.

She's fab! Love the micro beads and how you created her tail. Take care Zo xx
I love your mermaids Sandee and I don't really know why you think you have trouble with the faces - looks great to me.
The textured effect you've achieved on the tail is stunning. I think it's great that she's modest - leaving something to the imagination is far more interesting surely?!! Great bikini top with the micro beads too.
Thanks so much for sharing with us at Anything But A Card again - you are so loyal and we do appreciate it.
