PanPastel UK Challenge 2 - New Year/ New Technique

"Now the new year is over and we are settling back into our usual routines, to keep your creative juices flowing this week we'd like to see some new techniques. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to invent a new one, just try a technique you've never tried before, or try something different. Remember, it's all about experimenting, think outside the box, outside the 'routine' project."
Pete Boland

Oh boy, this couldn't fit any better for what I am currently working on. ♥
And that's no taradiddle! HA!

Do you remember Gallery Glass? Lord, I use to LOVE it, I did windows at my house ( which are still there long after I sold it ) my brother's house, his neighbor's house across the street...I mean I was addicted. Then I stopped...lol...but the other month while cleanning I found a treasure trove of brand new bottles in a box....keep that in the back of your mind....

Let's back track a moment....You might have seen this post about how I created this background for a project that I was currently working on. ♥ it!

So I had made this heart using this gesso and alcohol ink technique on metal tape from Linda Neff...you can see it here....and I wish I had taken a picture of it before I started on the wild and wacky...lol...yeah, you read it right. First I adhered the metal pieces in the form of a heart. Then I got out my Gallery Glass...I began by using the leading strips to outline the metal tape pieces, then began filling in with the Gallery Glass clear window color, noticing right off that it was picking up the alcohol inks a little bit, but I was hoping to achieve a stained glass look anyway. It's funny how you can be OK with mistakes sometimes.

I do forget to take pictures of the steps along the way when I get engrossed in a project. So all I can say is, I doodled on the rubber strips, added gems at the intersections, completed with the sentiment and I was basically finished.
Was I happy?
Honestly I was hoping for a thicker glass look, maybe another layer? It does take awhile to dry though....not sure. Might leave it as is for this piece and try another variation the next time. I am having fun playing with this old craft of mine and using it in a totally new and different way than it was intended! It's very similar to Glossy Accents though... It was serendipitous that Pan Pastel asked us to try something different, like a new technique. I actually tried 2...wonder if they will give me 2 shots at winning their starter kit? ( ::hands on hips::..you can stop laughing!! )
