A touch of red....

It's not often that this happens, OK, it's the FIRST time this has happened...I am naming a piece after a challenge. lol I can't help it, "A touch of red" just seems to fit this....or should it be a touch of gold? Now I'm confused, what do you think?
I do think it is worthy of some special attention so I am thinking of matting it and having it properly framed...

I love this Giant Peony Stamp by Indigoblu. I had to paint it in and then restamp over it because it got lost with the gel printed background...I did go back over it with a black pen to make it pop out more.

The way the butterflies seem to be bursting out from the red paint is what drew me to this one.
I instantly fell in love with it. I did add some gold splatters to tie in a little with the gold peony.

Making my own

Hi everyone, Sandee here today with some Easter cards that I created using some
background papers and a block printing technique that is easy to do. The
technique is called a Relief print because the ink adheres to the parts of the plate
that haven't been etched into.
This is a great way to create a focal point on your beautiful gel printed
instrument. ( dull pencil, or a retracted ballpoint pen )
I also embellished the printed images with some gel prints that I stamped and cut out and
then adhered them to the paper.
I am entering this one in Simon Monday Challenge : Inspired By A Song
which is....drumroll please....lol
Peter Cottontail Lyrics sung by Gene Autrey
Tim Holtz Crazy Things stamps are the perfect additions!

I have a short video explaining how to make the etchings in the styrofoam and
then a slideshow showing the steps to printing using the block, plus as a bonus I added some of my
favorite prints that I pulled too!

Forms of inspiration

Inspiration can hit you on so many different levels and for my project I created this week for Helmar I was inspired by a couple of things.
1. Snow.
The big snow we had several weeks ago where we got up towards 14" which is pretty major to us here in the south. Personally, I love these rare snowfalls and mostly enjoy looking at everything from inside my home. I did venture outdoors one day and the snow was up to my knees, needless to say it was a short lived adventure!
2. Lent.
Usually, Lent means trying to give up a food but somewhere I read about going through your closet and finding something to give away to a thrift shop. Clean out and donate an item every day, and while I found that fairly easy to follow I also discovered a stained sweater that I had to get rid of but couldn't donate so that leads us to inspiration ...

3. Pinterest.
To turn an old sweater into a toboggan or a knit cap, beanie, whatever you want to call them. We use to call them toboggans as a kid, I think they call them beanies nowadays. Anyway, no matter what you call it, it's my project over on Helmar today...
oh, and did I mention that I don't sew?

#SpringArt collaboration

This month's Creative Art Collaboration is Spring Art!

Check out my video and please subscribe, give me a thumbs up or leave me a comment....you can do all 3 if you want..wink

I am sharing one of my favorite techniques, inks on wax paper. You can get a background similar to one like mono printing without a plate using inks instead of acrylics.

Guest in da' art studio

I've taken Daisy Mae back to the studio before but she usually stays curled up in my sweater, however today she became very brave and decided to investigate my desk. Of course it happened on a photo shoot day for my Arnold Grummer project, so we got the occassional pictures like this...

And boy can she move in quickly and unexpectedly when I was trying to get a close up photo. Evidently it looks good enough to eat, I learned to move fast and grab the project out of the way of those teeth!

Did I mention the teeth?

She got shooed to the corner where she looked to be plotting her next move...

Yep...the little destroyer of all things has found a treasure...

She pulled out a plastic bag and nibbled on it for awhile....

And just to make she was thorough, she thought she'd sample the Golden jar too.

Daisy Mae asks everyone to go visit the Arnold Grummer blog and see her momma's project which she worked real hard on and to please leave her some comments over there! Thank you!

Learning curve

I am new to Creative Paperclay and while I am looking forward to the many wonderful projects that run through my head although I still need to learn a lot. Today I am up on their blog and I am suppose to be giving a tip for using Paperclay...but in my case, is it a tip or just something I am learning? lol Anyway, this is the "good" version...you have to pop over there to see the "bad" version and how I fixed my problem.

I still think I can use the bad version...maybe in some Halloween paper doll?
bwahahaha...till next time....

Art in my heart

I made this little ATC today to enter in a couple of challenges.

Simon Says - Spritz and Spray ( The inks were sprayed onto a sheet of wax paper and left to dry and then I cut my heart from that sheet )
The Mixed Media Challenge - #21 Glitter ( I spread Distressed Stickles over the top of the wax heart, might be a little hard to tell, but it is there )
ColourArte #8 - Color is the Heart of Art ( The entire background is made from Twinkling H20's )

I really wish the shimmer showed up better :)

Bucket List

Here we go again with another bucket list project of mine....to write and illustrate a children's book. I don't even care if it actually gets published ( but that would be awesome, right?) I just want to do it. Next month I will get my chance to do that for a video collaboration but in the meantime, Deco Art asked me to do a portfolio cover so I created this one from a cardboard box....you can find the steps for it here.

Advice from a snowman

I just love the IndigoBlu FlitterGlu kits and just love how well it did on the Rain Droplets stamp, which in my case I used it as snow...yes, we have snow again in the forecast....wheeee....lol...I have snow on the brain, have I mentioned I love snow?

One of my friends, however, does not, so that means I love sending her snow cards, lol

Advice from a snowman:
Be a jolly, happy soul
Spend time outdoors
Stay cool
It's OK to be a little bottom heavy
Be well rounded
Avoid meltdowns
Embrace change

March Hare

Today starts the Alice Through the Looking Glass video art crawl on youtube. I am honored to be amongst some fabulous artists over there and I do hope you join us. Pour yourself a cup of tea and watch our videos.
Now the Alice in Wonderland people will immediately get the cup of tea reference, especially with the March Hare who loves his tea time with the Mad Hatter! I will admit to you my blog readers that I did not...and I also was confused with the March Hare and the White Rabbit! Seriously, I didn't realize that there were 2 rabbits in the story but after my research I do now!! lol

...and yes, I got the craziest one.....
lol

Sending sunshine is easy

Entering my card in

I love beautiful papers like this one from the Indigoblu Floral Vignettes - Mixed Media Paper Pad because all I had to do was sew some french knots in the sunflowers for some dimension.  I also added some pen work around the edges of the card with my Signo Uniball pen and my Micron pen. The sentiment was printed out on my computer and then cut out.
.

I love easy! Don't you?
